Waitlist for new clients
I specialise in struggles with anxiety, feeling sad, loss and bereavement.
Need help with anxiety & stress, feeling sad & depression, or loss & bereavement? Counselling can help you see your current situation in a new light, depth and clarity. Instinctively, we know talking helps, but when life’s challenges and struggles overwhelm us, it may be difficult to talk to those we're closest to about how we truly feel. When dealing with transitions, dilemmas and crises, or times of uncertainty and loss, we may need the support of someone trained to help us move forward.

Are you struggling to fall asleep as you keep worrying about things? Maybe you have anxiety, panic attacks and keep overthinking. You might often feel numb or completely overwhelmed. Maybe it's having an impact on your relationship with your loved ones and more importantly how you feel about yourself. Things don't have to stay this way. I’m passionate about supporting adults with anxiety and depression. I have experienced how isolating and debilitating it can be. People can say things like “just be positive” or “don’t worry about it”. It can be hard for them to understand that it isn’t as simple as just focusing on something else.

Do you feel overwhelmed by your feelings? Do they impact on your confidence and day-to-day life? Or perhaps you have experienced painful losses, abuse or traumatic events that are affecting you? Do you have patterns of behaviour that no longer feel beneficial to you? Sometimes we think and act in certain ways that function to protect and preserve us. These have felt necessary in the past, but are no longer useful and can instead impact negatively on our life.

I specialise in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, cultural issues, work-related stress, and living with illness. We all face times when we feel confused, stuck or unsure about what to do. During these difficult or uncertain times talking to someone who listens, yet has distance from the issue, can really help. Asking for support is not a sign of weakness. It takes courage to focus on ourselves so that we can find solutions, make changes, and move forwards. I offer compassionate, non-judgmental, confidential yet proactive therapy in a safe and supportive space. I work in the evenings and weekends.

Whatever changes you wish to make I can offer you an individually tailored approach, which will help you to identify your own unique goals and learn how to move forward to the future you wish for yourself.

Many clients seeking trauma therapy, anxiety therapy, or grief therapy often feel stuck and uncertain about whether therapy is the right choice for them, especially if they have never tried it before. I offer a personalised approach that doesn’t involve sitting in a room revisiting the past. Instead, we can walk together in nature, chat online, or talk over the phone.

I have experience in treating a range of conditions such as Depression, PTSD, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Social Anxiety and many more.
Reaching out for therapy is a brave step but it can also be a daunting one. It can be hard to know where to turn to or who to trust. I understand this firsthand as I too sought therapy many years ago to help address my own battle with depression. Indeed it was this experience that ignited my passion for helping others struggling with their mental health and which led me to re-train as a therapist. I feel very privileged to be able to support people in their time of need and strive to do so by providing a non-judgemental, compassionate and collaborative space for talking.

Anxiety sets in and we become overwhelmed, leaving us feeling depressed and unable to cope.
I am a warm, friendly person and a good listener. I have a very empathic understanding and vast experiences from my own personal life. This has shaped me to be the person I am today. Things from our childhoods and certain traumas, can have us acting out behaviours that can be damaging to us. I have experience working with relationship breakdowns, alcohol addiction, depression, anxiety and self harm. I have worked with adolescents and adults of all disabilities. I've worked a great deal with confidence building and low self-esteem. I can help you recognise these behaviours and what triggers them.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
