Feeling depressed, anxious and unworthy; suffering loss, bereavement, relationship issues, or just wanting to make sense of the world and know yourself better? Counselling can help. As a psychotherapist my main concern is to provide you with an environment where you fell feel safe and accepted. A place where you can speak freely and reflect without be judged regardless of who you are. A safe place where you can grow and blossom - I will not offer advice, but will offer a response appropriate to the material you have shared, perhaps offering a new perspective. Finding the right counsellor is a very important step in a person’s life.

Exploring the possibility of counselling/psychotherapy is a courageous step, one which can enable you to become more fully yourself. Therapy should be a place where you can feel safe and accepted, where you find it easier to share things that are concerning you. It can be a place where you come to find out more about yourself, to challenge yourself and make choices and decisions that lead towards a more positive and hopeful future. Sometimes there is something from our past, an event or an aspect of ourselves, that seems to be holding us back, and therapy can support us in addressing those things too. Be in touch for more info...

Many people come to therapy during the messy reality of trying to become, or being, a parent - navigating fertility treatment, pregnancy, birth trauma, relationship strain, separation, blended families, or co-parenting.
I offer steady, relational therapy for people affected by the complexities of family life - raising children, longing for them, grieving losses, navigating separation, or trying to understand the family they came from. Together we explore relationship patterns, identity, and the emotional load you’ve been carrying for too long.

Specialist interests include infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, traumatic birth experiences, TFMR and postnatal support.
It isn't often, in our everyday lives, that we feel truly heard, understood and accepted without sensing judgement or criticism from others. I deeply acknowledge and understand the loneliness that comes from struggling in silence with life's difficulties. Therapy offers you a calm space to begin to tell your story; permission to pause and reflect on what you have been through, validate your response to trauma and loss and gently navigate the path forward. I will support you on your therapeutic journey, gently empowering you to realise your inner resources and ways of coping and navigating your world so that you feel more in control.

Often our anxieties and difficulties can weigh us down and we are unable to find a way forward. Perhaps we experience intrusive anxious thoughts or our inner critic is just too loud and holds us back. Maybe we keep repeating the same unhelpful behaviour again and again. Or perhaps past trauma feels too present and we are still experiencing its physical and emotional impact and the way it makes us behave. Our thoughts and feelings can be confusing and talking to friends and relatives may be too difficult. I provide a safe, respectful space in which you can explore your difficulties, gain insight and discover a way forward.

I have carried out 30 years of research into pregnancy and early months of having a baby.
I am an Integrative Counsellor which means that I use different models of therapy to best suit your specific needs. Listening can be very different from truly feeling heard from knowing that someone genuinely "gets you". I offer a non-judgemental and compassionate approach, providing a safe space for you to explore and work through your concerns at your own pace. I have worked over 30 years as a counsellor within the NHS, further education and private practice. I have carried out extensive research into The Transition into Motherhood, leading me to recognise the immensity and complexity of emotions that can arise.

Is life getting on top of you and you feel as though you can’t catch a break? Maybe your past is coming up for you in ways that affect you today and continue to make you feel stuck, despite overcoming challenges on the surface. Self limiting beliefs holding you back? Let’s talk- I’m here to help, I understand how difficult it can be to embark on a journey of self healing and discovery such as counselling- whether you are ready to pick up the phone right this second or you are just browsing for now, the fact that you have made it this far is a huge step. I believe that no two individuals are the same and my practice reflects this.

I provide support for trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, low self-worth, life transitions, neurodiversity, sexuality, and have a special interest in perinatal and postpartum care.
Finding a therapist can feel like an overwhelming task, especially when we are at our most vulnerable. You might be struggling with something deeply personal, yet feel unable to express how you truly feel. Perhaps you worry about being judged, misunderstood, or triggering a reaction from someone in your life. Even if you have people around you, it can still feel lonely when you don't feel safe enough to open up.

I am a trained birth and abortion doula & am passionate about supporting women with issues relating to pregnancy & all its outcomes.
I know that life challenges and changes have a way of steering us off path and disconnecting us from the heart of who we are which can leave us feeling burnt out and adrift. I work in a holistic way which makes space for both mind & body to guide you back into connection with yourself. I help you gently release trauma and emotion and work towards your goals.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
