Hi, I'm Chris, I'm a bit of a nerd who is into books, gaming, movies and TV shows. Being a therapist isn't just my job, it's something I genuinely love doing because I am hugely curious about people. I realised I had a true interest in people while I traveled and met people from different walks of life, cultures and spiritualities. I spend a lot of my time trying to learn and understand things, whether it's a new game, philosophical concept or how something works. In my role as a therapist I'm getting to know and understand you so that we can figure out how best to support you through what it is you are experiencing.

I offer therapy online and in person from two safe, welcoming locations River Barns near Redruth and life time therapies in Falmouth.
Has life begun to feel like a constant cycle of getting through the day, only to wake up and do it all again? Does your mind feel stuck on repeat, replaying conversations, worrying about what comes next, or struggling to switch off even when you are exhausted? Has work started to feel like a prison of stress and anxiety, while people and social situations leave you irritated, drained, or wanting to be left alone? Over time, this can begin to affect relationships, confidence, boundaries, and how you feel about yourself.

Exploring the possibility of counselling/psychotherapy is a courageous step, one which can enable you to become more fully yourself. Therapy should be a place where you can feel safe and accepted, where you find it easier to share things that are concerning you. It can be a place where you come to find out more about yourself, to challenge yourself and make choices and decisions that lead towards a more positive and hopeful future. Sometimes there is something from our past, an event or an aspect of ourselves, that seems to be holding us back, and therapy can support us in addressing those things too. Life can you hit you hard! I know this from experience. The good news is, that there is always a way back, no matter how hopeless the situation might feel at the time. The fact that you are here right now shows that you have the inner strength and desire to move forward. That in itself is huge, and the first step towards discovering (or re-discovering) the person that you truly are. Maybe you are feeling stressed? or suffer from anxiety? Are you struggling with a past traumatic experience? or the loss of a loved one? You could be stuck in a rut and not know why? Whatever it may be, remember that it does not have to be permanent.

Are you finding life hard work, struggling with a low mood or losing your temper at the smallest of things? Do you feel out of control and that life is not what it's meant to be? Then maybe I can help. If you'd like to feel more in control, less overwhelmed or anxious then talking therapies can really help. Many of my clients come to me exhausted from trying to take control of their life, struggling to manage their anger and feeling worthless. Life brings all sorts of challenges and some can be much harder to overcome than others. Most adults can remember a time when they were dealing with a situation so tough that everyday living became more challenging than usual. For children and young people, who have not had time to develop their own coping strategies, such situations are even more difficult to cope with. Many children who are having a difficult time do not know what it is that they are feeling and cannot put it into words. Counselling for children and young people might be slightly different to the traditional idea of therapy you may have in mind.

I offer therapy sessions in-person, in a cosy rural setting in Cheshire, or online via video.
Finding a therapist can feel like an overwhelming task, especially when we are at our most vulnerable. You might be struggling with something deeply personal, yet feel unable to express how you truly feel. Perhaps you worry about being judged, misunderstood, or triggering a reaction from someone in your life. Even if you have people around you, it can still feel lonely when you don't feel safe enough to open up.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
