Has life begun to feel like a constant cycle of getting through the day, only to wake up and do it all again? Does your mind feel stuck on repeat, replaying conversations, worrying about what comes next, or struggling to switch off even when you are exhausted? Has work started to feel like a prison of stress and anxiety, while people and social situations leave you irritated, drained, or wanting to be left alone? Over time, this can begin to affect relationships, confidence, boundaries, and how you feel about yourself.

I believe that human beings are naturally wired to grow and flourish but at times life presents challenges that feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate alone. I provide a space to pause and begin to make sense of your experiences; creating the conditions from which change, and healing can occur. I believe that we are all doing our best, often carrying stories that the world may never hear and that sometimes what we need most is simply a space to breathe, to feel heard without judgement. I offer a collaborative, trauma- informed approach that is rooted in humanistic values and shaped by the power of narrative.

Hello to you and thank you for reading my profile. I want you to know that however you feel right now, you deserve to feel better. People I have helped tell me they feel anxious but they’re not sure why. They never feel good enough, often ‘wearing a mask’, and feel like they’re just don't 'fit in'. If you feel the same, I assure you, you are not going crazy. Maybe you’re just experiencing being neurodivergent in a world not made for you. I'm really pleased you're here. I’m Natalie an Autistic, Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor with a passion for helping you heal from life's traumas and challenges.

I have a vast amount of experience in working with Neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, Trauma, Addiction, Mental & physical Health problems, Loss, Low self-esteem, Domestic abuse, Relationship problems, Family related issues, Self-harm & suicide and more...
I have worked with Homeless individuals, families and young people, and have also worked with the elderly and in palliative care. I also have a keen interest in pet bereavement counselling. After experiencing the loss of my own pets, I found little support, which led me to further studying to offer support around pet loss. After all our pets are family too.

We all struggle to make sense of experiences at times, especially when our life is in transition or we have unwanted changes. Perhaps you are going through the menopause, have a new job, responsibilities or are retiring, bereaved or divorced? Change can shake our sense of who we are. Therapy with me will provide the space to think about what is important to you, what do you value and what is stopping you living the life you want? Uncertainty often brings stress and anxiety. I know how this impacts the body and mind. I can talk through calming strategies. I want you to discover your vitality and life force again .

What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
