Our counselling offers help in addressing the difficult areas of your life. This might involve loss and grief, relationship troubles or problems at work. Equally, there are times when the cause is not clear but you still feel something is wrong. Colleagues, family and friends can be a great source of support but it's not always easy to confide in those closest to you. At times like these, talking to someone who is not personally involved can make a difference. A professional counsellor will listen to you without making judgments and can help you find new resources within yourself.

Hello; a warm welcome to my profile. I love working with people who are looking at or wanting some kind of change in their lives, and wanting to find a way of doing it that lasts and more importantly feels like it adds to their life. Maybe you are struggling with something, or perhaps you just want to take a look at your life and assess or reassess it. Together we can work out a way forward; by looking at and following your cues, which you may or may not be aware of right now, we can map a path that feels right for you. I truly believe that everyone carries their own answers within them; we just need to find out what they are!

My own journey to becoming a therapist began with the need to make sense of my own situations and self. The beliefs I had about myself and the world as I saw it, and the beliefs I had about how the world saw me.
I bring lived experience of managing mental challenges and addictions. I understand that our unique life experiences shape how we think, feel, and relate to the world and one another.
Amazing things unfold when humans, together, face the problems of living with openness and kindness and without pressure to perform. This is the essence of therapy.

I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work as a therapist. As a neurodivergent practitioner, I experience difference directly in my own life, and I know how it can feel to move through the world out of sync with expectations, with disconnection or overwhelm following close behind. My experiences of loss have also shaped a deep respect for grief, change, and resilience. I don’t see people as broken, but as meaning-makers in complex worlds. I offer a steady, relational space where patterns can be explored with curiosity, supporting a clearer, more authentic sense of self.

With over 10 years of experience, I specialise in working with teens and their struggles. The teenage years can be some of the hardest, as we find our place in a confusing world. I prioritise building skills and resiliency that will support you through your life.
Starting a counselling journey is not a sign of weakness—it is one of the bravest steps a person can take. In a world that often tells us to "keep going," "stay strong," or "just get over it," choosing to pause, sit with your thoughts, and seek understanding is a radical act of self-respect.

Hello! I’m Tristan, a qualified male counsellor with a passion for walking beside others through life’s challenges and helping them discover new perspectives along the way.
Counselling helped me through some unexpected and difficult changes in my own life, so I understand that life can be tough, and often doesn’t go to plan. I also believe there is strength and beauty in the gift of life.
After later training as a counsellor and working in charities and structured organisations, I’ve created my own counselling space where people can feel safe to be fully themselves, without judgement.

Do you often feel out of step with the world, exhausted by trying to fit in or keep up? You may be autistic or have ADHD, formally diagnosed or self-recognised, and perhaps are only beginning to understand how your neurodivergence has shaped your life experience. You might also be navigating patterns that no longer serve you such as overworking, relying on substances, or constantly pushing yourself - coping strategies that may have once helped you get by but now leave you feeling depleted, stuck, or disconnected from yourself.

Many of the people I work with are insightful, self-aware and emotionally reflective- yet still find themselves stuck in painful relational patterns.
They often arrive exhausted by overthinking, second-guessing themselves, overgiving, or carrying the emotional weight within relationships. On the surface they may look like they have things together, but internally something feels off.
You may notice yourself repeating the same dynamics, struggling to trust your instincts, or feeling drawn towards relationships that leave you anxious, unseen or emotionally depleted.

Are you in a role where pressure or exposure to trauma is just ‘part of the job’? You’re relied upon to step in when others wouldn’t, but lately it’s felt a struggle. You’re still functioning, but have noticed you can’t switch off, struggle to sleep and things that never bothered you, are. You feel stuck in a cycle, but asking for help feels like defeat. Burnout isn’t weakness.
Repeated exposure to stress or trauma accumulates in the body, and even the most resilient of people will experience the impact of being on high alert for too long. That shift can feel unnerving when your identity is built around competence and coping.

Are you autistic or wondering if you might be? Maybe your child has received an autism diagnosis or are you waiting for an assessment? Are you feeling unsure what to do next and struggling to find support? Are you or your child experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, melt downs or challenging behaviour? An autism diagnosis is the beginning. There is so much information but no one to guide you through it all. Family and friends try to understand, school try to help but don’t always get it right. You may feel alone, isolated and lonely, unsure who to trust and where to turn.

I am a down to earth Counsellor who works with adults, children and young people. You may have a firm idea of traumas in your life you’d like to address or just a nagging desire to feel more at ease in your mind and life.

Together we get to know how you tick and see if fresh insights can support you to feel able to face the world again.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
