I'm an accredited EMDR therapist with additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT) as well as being a certified coach for Highly Sensitive People.
If you’ve spent years putting your own needs aside to keep the peace, your body is likely carrying a heavy load of chronic stress. For sensitive adults, people-pleasing isn't just a bad habit, it’s often a survival strategy born out of difficult life events or past trauma. It leaves you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and constantly on edge. I offer a gentle, supportive environment where we can untangle these pieces together. We will work collaboratively to heal those deeper wounds, quiet your nervous system, and help you rebuild a life that actually feels like your own. You don’t need fixing, just room to remember who you are.

One of the things I love about EMDR is that it puts you, the client, in control, (something we may not have had very much of when our traumas were taking place). EMDR does not delete memories but simply changes the way painful memories are stored, so that when we think about them, they no longer trigger negative emotions or sensations. As my mother once said, you can go around it, under it or over it but at some point, you must go through it. I wish you strength and healing on your journey.

I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist offering psychological therapy in a cosy log cabin, whilst walking through woodland, or sitting together on a hillside with far reaching views. I offer therapy in natural settings because many people find that being outdoors helps them feel calmer, think more clearly, and connect more openly. Research demonstrates that spending time in green spaces can support emotional regulation, restore attention, calm the nervous system, and promote a greater sense of connection. Therapy in nature can offer a welcome pause from the pace and pressures of modern life.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by physical or mental health problems or weight? Does your body or mind feel out of your control? Perhaps you've been diagnosed with a new condition or can't get your head round an existing one? Are any of these issues impacting on your emotions or relationships with others? I can help. I value supporting people with finding their own path, standing out from the crowd, building connection and relationships. I am not a fixer and I don't have all the answers, although I know that I am OK to sit with people in chaos. I strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own way, on their own terms.

Many of us can be our own harshest critic...never feeling good enough, never feeling as if we are "enough", not wanted or unloveable...these thoughts understandably have a big impact on our wellbeing and day to day functioning. It's not just you that feels this way - many of us struggle with these thoughts and feelings at times, but particularly if we've experienced adversity or trauma, this may have become the "norm" in the way we think about ourselves. But this can change. And when we start to think about ourselves and relate differently to ourselves, the world feels like a much better place!

I use approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR (trauma therapy).
Facing a sudden physical health diagnosis, a neurological condition, bereavement, or trauma often brings understandable distress. When your world shifts unexpectedly, feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about the future is a completely human response.

As a psychotherapist with 17 years of practice, I work with couples and individuals to understand the patterns shaping their lives and relationships, make sense of what they are going through, and explore what may be standing in the way of change.
Many people who contact me already know that something is not working. They may find themselves repeating the same patterns in relationships, struggling to express what they really think or feel, adapting around others to keep the peace, or feeling stuck between wanting something different and feeling unable to move towards it.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
