I was a client before I was a counsellor and I know from experience that seeking support isn't always easy. My first priority is to make accessing support as stress free as possible by establishing an informal yet supportive environment. By creating a space which is free of judgement and where there is no problem more or less worthy than another, I've helped many people work through some of their toughest moments. I've helped clients of various ages and from a range of backgrounds work through issues including anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, loneliness, relationships, domestic / sexual abuse, loss and trauma.

People come to counselling for many reasons including dealing with the loss of a loved one, experiencing anxiety, stress or depression or even simply to learn more about themselves and in turn learn to love and accept themselves. Counselling can be an incredible tool and experience for anyone who is looking to improve their life or personal outlook in some way, shape or form. My specialisms include working with clients suffering from anxiety, depression (including PND), low self-esteem, body dysmorphia (and the impact of social media), PTSD, stress, bullying, addiction and grief.

Do you feel like a pressure cooker ready to explode? Do you feel lost and that every way you turn issues arise? Are you getting angry at people for no reason? Or feeling so down and desperate you don’t know which way to turn?It can be overwhelming sometimes even thinking about asking for help when as a culture we are supposed to be able to cope with everyday pressures. Life changing experiences and challenges such as loss, trauma or redundancy can cause unbelievable stresses on an already stressful life. It is all to easy to become stuck in a rut or to begin to struggle with daily life with all the competing pressures we face.

I am not a traditional Counsellor. I am a qualified Life Coach & Therapist working with Adults, Children & Veterans experiencing a range of emotional & behavioural issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, fears & Phobias, addictions, lack of confidence, low self esteem, pain relief & bereavement. I have spent most of my working life as a HR Manager in both the Public & Private Sectors. I have seen many employees distressed because of long waits for Counselling/Therapy appointments so this led me to retrain to enable me to bridge the gap and make a difference to peoples' lives. Through my counselling training, work and life experiences, I have realised that every person and every problem is unique. Counselling protects your autonomy and allows you to feel that you are being listened to and valued; that your issues are real and important but significantly they can be worked through and there is a way to move on. It gives you a space which is confidential, secure and supportive whatever the issue whether it's a problem with a relationship or the devastation of grief. I see my clients as valuable human beings who are temporarily lost and confused and my job is to help them find clarity and hope.

I have been practicing as a full-time Counsellor for the past 16 years. I have worked in a variety of settings and for a wide variety of clients from young children to couples. I work as a Client Centred therapist helping clients find ways to live a more fulfilling life. Helping clients find out who they are, not who they are trying or feel they ought to be. I do a lot of work with children, students and young adults. I have also, for the last 15 years, done short term EAP work in my private practice for a local housing association.

Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence. Finding a teen therapist in Stockport and addressing a disorder early on can help ensure the best possible outcome.
