I’m an experienced anxiety and trauma therapist with additional qualifications and training in hypnotherapy, mindfulness and polyvagal theory (nervous system regulation).
Counselling and hypnotherapy for trauma and anxiety.
Are you suffering from overwhelming emotional or physical symptoms? Maybe you are dealing with anxiety or panic attacks or a nagging sense that ‘something is wrong’ with you in some way. perhaps you’re getting angry for no reason and alienating your loved ones. You may also be overthinking everything, doubting yourself, not knowing who you are anymore. Trauma can show up in many different ways, all of them exhausting and debilitating. Sometimes we know what the cause is but often comes from a deeper, less obvious place so we may need support and guidance to process and heal.

Experience and training are important: I've been practising for over 28 years and completed 3 distinct degree level qualifications; psychotherapy, CBT and mindfulness ( Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy)'.
The psychotherapy approach entails working, immediately but, kindly with exploration at your pace. The CBT approach is more direct and involves ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy). This is best for overcoming anxiety via homework tasks (logging alongside mindfulness exercises of present moment) so when anxiety happens, you can ACT differently, change it.

Welcome — I’m Dr. Kez, a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience working across mental health services. I specialise in supporting adults who have grown up with early attachment wounds or who find themselves navigating anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, low mood, or recurring patterns in relationships. Many of the people I meet describe a sense that something isn’t quite fitting in their lives—an emotional heaviness, a stuckness, or a feeling that they’re repeating the same cycles without knowing why.

Life is so beautiful, and life is so hard. Maybe, for you, it feels especially hard right now. On the outside, you might appear fine, but inside, you’re overwhelmed. Anxiety, overthinking, or self-doubt could be holding you back, making it hard to focus or set goals. Sleep may feel impossible, leaving you exhausted and unmotivated. You want clarity, calm, and to reconnect with what matters most. You’re ready for change, even if you’re unsure where to start.

My approach is integrative, drawing on neuroscience, mindfulness, and existential therapy.
I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients. As someone who is both gay and autistic, I bring lived experience and clinical training to this work, and offer an affirming and non-pathologising space. I’m also interested in what neuroscience is showing about the toll modern life takes on our brains and nervous systems.

You may feel stuck in cycles of depression, worry, perfectionism, or self-criticism — always striving, yet never feeling “enough.” Relationships might feel strained, perhaps you may be searching for acceptance in a world that doesn’t always feel built for you. Deep down, you might want more than just relief: you long to feel accepted, build healthier patterns, and reconnect with yourself and others.
My clients often seek both healing and growth — a safe space to let go of judgement and make room for confidence, connection, and joy.

In 2006 I trained as a hypnotherapist, then a mindfulness coach and now as a Counsellor using a Transactional Analysis approach.
At some point in life, most of us long for new ways of being. This can be brought on through a period of depression, anxiety, traumatic past events, relationship problems, or grief and loss. Many of my clients have never seen a therapist before and I recognise that choosing to do so is a big decision. It often comes from a realisation that now is the time to take a pause, to reflect and to invest in oneself. For couples counselling, I know that navigating the complexities of our relationships can be challenging - humans are complex - two of us together is more complex! Having space to talk and be heard is a good place to start.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
