You are unhappy, depressed, anxious, having family or relationship issues, suffering from low self-esteem, body image or weight issues.
I provide a safe, confidential space where you can take a step back from your life and gain some perspective. Here you will find acceptance and support as you explore your thoughts and feelings. There is no pressure, or judgement. I am not an expert on life with all the 'answers' but someone who will listen, really listen.

Many of the people I work with struggle with the lingering effects of childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, or patterns that feel hard to change, even when they want to.
Coming originally from Greece, through Porto, and now calling UK my home, I’ve witnessed a shared human truth. None of us is immune to emotional pain. Trauma, grief, anxiety, intense emotions, and fears or challenges around intimacy can feel isolating, but in the presence of a compassionate, trusting relationship, they can be held, acknowledged & transformed.

Hi! I’m Emma and I’m a person-centred therapist. I have found my niche is working with trauma and relationships, often working with individuals who are neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ due to my own ADHD diagnosis and non-binary identity. However, I have experience working with a wide range of clients and topics. I offer a space where you can just be yourself in all your "weirdness" with it being celebrated, not tolerated. You are not a problem to be fixed, my aim as your therapist is to provide the right conditions to allow you to explore whatever you want to bring to therapy to support your growth.

Feeling depressed, experiencing anxiety, struggling to adjust to certain life transitions, or seeking to understand how past experiences impact your current life may lead you to seek psychotherapy.
I have completed my training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. I work with adults following this approach which focuses on the connection between past and present experiences and unconscious processes. Depending on individual needs and the requirements of the process, I conduct sessions with a frequency of 1–3 times per week.

For many, experiences like loss, neglect, or difficult childhoods contribute to anxiety, depression, and feelings of disconnection, issues with sex and sexuality and inability to make life changes.
I specialize in helping individuals understand how early attachments and life experiences shape their responses to challenges like depression, anxiety, and work stress. My approach is to unpack how past relationships, unresolved grief, or identity questions, including sexuality, influence current struggles.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
