I offer a safe and confidential space for you to talk openly about any issues which may be causing you distress or concern in your life. It is not unusual for people to feel depressed or anxious at some stage in their life. Sometimes this can be related to a particular life event, other times these feelings can seem to come from nowhere. These periods can feel never ending and intense and often result in leaving you feeling isolated, confused stuck and struggling. Working with individuals, young people and couples, I provide short term solution focused therapy as well as long term therapy for issues needing more exploration.

As a therapist for both adults & adolescents I understand the impact of today's ever changing world can have on us at any age. I will offer you the opportunity to talk through your worries and feel more emotionally tolerant for the future ahead; whichever path you choose to take. I can help you build your self-esteem and promote confidence in your own ability; using the tools you already have and new ones you'll develop. Anxiety, anger, depression & shame are words we're hearing more frequently but have we become intolerant to experiencing them? I offer you an opportunity to talk through your issues in an emotionally healthy way.

Taking the step to ask for help is often the hardest thing we do. I think as adults we feel as if we "should be able to cope" or "others have it harder" and that in some way needing help or someone to talk to in difficult times is showing a weakness. We invest time and money in keeping our bodies in shape and while that is the vehicle that gets us through our life we need to care for our other parts too. Our emotions and our relationships constantly need recognition and yet we only seek help when we reach a crisis point. So whether you are at a crisis point or struggling with anxiety, depression or a bereavement I am here to help.

Are you feeling low, lost or anxious? Are you looking for a supportive therapist who will listen to you and help you make sense of what’s going on in your life? I work with people who have anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues and depression , among other difficulties. Sometimes these emerged after a loss or setback, or maybe they are feelings that have always been there and now is the time to tackle them. Perhaps it's hard to even say why, or why now. Whichever it is, I’ll support you, listen to you, and help you understand what’s going on right now, how it relates to the past, and how you can make changes for the future.

I work with anxiety (panic attacks), depression , trauma (PTSD) and loss.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor, offering individuals a safe and confidential place for support and exploration. I believe that a respectful and non-judgmental environment is crucial to therapy, this is an essential element of the way I work. I always welcome whole authentic feelings from my clients, without putting a negative label on them. In order to explore overwhelming feelings such as: guilt, depression , anxiety, anger, loss, self-harm etc. without feeling judged, trust needs to be present. The decision to come to counselling is a courageous step - facing our difficulties is never easy but can be liberating.

I am an experienced and qualified psychotherapist working with individual adults. I work from an analytic perspective - our experience of the past, both conscious and unconscious influences our present. Feelings of depression , anxiety or a lack of direction or meaning in life need to be understood in this broader context. By looking at our whole life we can uncover who we really are and where we wish to go. I offer a safe space where troublesome, dark and difficult feelings can be examined and explored - by bringing them into the light we open up the possibility of facing and understanding them.

Problems are personal, bereavement, depression , stress, relationship breakdowns and anxiety can all feel unbearable and isolating. The reasons for seeking counselling or psychotherapy are as unique and varied as we are. Sometimes we have an idea of what is annoying or upsetting us. Sometimes we struggle to understand issues that darken our days. We might enter a cycle of blame or self-loathing in which we get lost, finding it difficult to move forwards in our lives.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in St Albans. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
