which could be communication, old patterns of unhelpful behaviour, or an affair or loss of a person.
It could be that you’ve become stuck worrying about the future, or you’ve got some big stuff in your head that’s getting in the way of moving forwards and it’s time to do something with it so that you can move on. Maybe there is fear and anxiety of making change, or you feel stressed and sad? Or maybe there is some unavoidable unhappiness in that is in the background of your life?

I started my counselling training over 12 years ago and have years of experience working with people who are striving to understand themselves and these complicated lives that we are all living. I will never get over how much courage it takes to reach out for help at a time of crisis and I am always blown away at the strength and resilience of the human mind. I believe that we all have the potential to grow & heal and that counselling works to facilitate this process. Counselling is for everyone. Not just those who may consider themselves to be in an extreme crisis. I treat each client as an individual working with your unique needs

I have a keen interest in working with complex or stuck grief/ bereavement and trauma issues.
Hi I am Lowri. I am a Psychotherapist with over 20 years experince of working with people with a range of mental health struggles, in a variety of different settings. I have been practicing as a CBT therapist for apx 13 years. I use CBT and EMDR as my main mode of therapy but use an integrative approach, drawing on elements of ACT, CFT, TA. I appreciate that no two individuals or experiences are the same. Therefore, I strive to offer an individualised flexible approach, to help you feel supported to take important but often scary steps towards change, regaining inner strength and control in your life.

I'm experienced in working with bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, women's issues and relationship difficulties.
I can integrate different therapies to provide insight into root causes of psychological distress and/or barriers preventing you from living your life the way you would want. The theories I refer begin with offering a humanistic base (which means putting you at the centre of the therapy), and then include working creatively to tailor to individual need.

I'm an energetic practitioner who will laugh and get excited with you, but I will also always respect your rhythm and create space for grief, pain and stuckness, for as long as it is needed.
Being neurodivergent myself, I've been drawn to work with autism, ADHD and other neurotypes, as well as the gender, sexuality, kink, and relationship diversity (polyamory/non-monogamy) community, including sex workers. I strive for my counselling room to be a non-judgmental space where no topic is off the table and every aspect of your life is welcome.

The type of support I offer is helping adults who feel challenged by anxiety and depression, relationships issues; personal change; bereavement and loss; neurodiversity; ADHD and ASD.
The aim of our sessions is to help you have a better understanding of yourself, and to work through issues to enable a happier and more settled life. I understand first hand that life can feel overwhelming and confusing and that it can be difficult to reach out for help.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
