As a humanistic counsellor you are at the centre of my practice. Working with children and adults I provide a safe and accepting space to explore and empower your decisions. I understand that life can feel confusing, isolating and some events can bring up emotions you had boxed away, leaving you feeling overwhelmed. You might feel that you have lost sight of who you are or that people just do not hear you. Big life changes especially in childhood have such an impact on us, and it is about seeing these patterns and deciding if you want to change them.

None of us are immune to life's difficulties, and speaking with a counsellor whilst going through difficult times can significantly lessen that burden. It provides you with the time, space and support to process where you are in your life right now, and where you want to be heading. I have been working within the counselling field for over 17 years. I have worked within NHS settings and various counselling organisations in that time, offering a variety of proven, effective therapies to assist a wide range of issues.

Whether you are experiencing Low Mood, Anxiety, Family or Relationship issues, low self-esteem, bullying, stress, or simply just need a space to unpack your thoughts, counselling can help.
Talking to those closest to us is often not an option, or may not be available to you, and sometimes, it can feel easier to seek support from someone who is impartial to your day to day life. A genuine human connection is really important for me, providing an environment where you can feel safe to explore your inner self. I pride myself on cultivating an authentic space, where you will be met with compassion and non-judgement. I offer a sense of calm and encourage self-awareness and understanding, working collaboratively to explore your experiences - I want to get to know you, however you present.

I help with many emotional and behaviourl states from anxiety to depresion, and specailse in trauma, life transitions, undertanding core beliefs, and personal growth.
I work with a wide range of clients, those who are “wearing a mask”, facing adversity, struggling with past trauma, loss of agency, identity, or self-destructive patterns. They feel disconnected, reactive, and uncertain about their future. They need a structured approach to rebuild trust in themselves, regain control, and find meaning in navigating their suffering. Their goal is growth, not just recovery. They want clarity, resilience, and a sense of purpose because they refuse to be defined by their past. My therapy focuses on reintegrating the divided self, fostering agency, and helping clients transform pain into strength.

If you’re seeking support in processing trauma, managing anxiety and depression, or breaking free from negative patterns and beliefs, I am here to help.
I use a blend of tools and techniques to identify and process repeating patterns that often sabotage my clients' wellbeing. These patterns can come from unprocessed past traumas and unconscious beliefs about themselves and the world around them. These can turn up as anxiety and overwhelm, depressive episodes and many physical and mental health conditions.

The way that a human life unfolds can bring challenges, and these may become stressful or overwhelming at times for almost anyone, which prevents us from living happy and meaningful lives. Very often a few effective sessions of the solutions-based therapy I offer can make a positive shift on the route to a balanced life again. My aim is to get you back in control, and enjoying life again. I have a wide experience of life to share, in a family setting, in business and in work of all kinds. By working with you to regain those central human needs which have temporarily gone missing, improvements usually follow quickly.

My ideal client is someone who feels that something in their life no longer fits, even if they can’t quite explain why. Often, life looks fine on the outside, yet internally they may feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. This can show up in relationships, intimacy or desire, a sense of emotional flatness, or difficulty feeling at home in themselves. They are often thoughtful and reflective, but feel caught in familiar patterns or disconnected from their body or emotions. They want space to understand themselves more fully. Their goal is to live in a way that feels more authentic, meaningful, and alive.

You may be someone who thinks deeply about yourself and the world, yet still feel stuck. Perhaps you understand your patterns intellectually, but certain reactions, relationships, or ways of coping keep resurfacing. From the outside things may look fine, yet internally something feels conflicted, tense, or quietly out of place. Many of my clients want not just relief, but a deeper understanding of themselves and more freedom in how they live.

Often people find our groups helpful who are having difficulties with anxiety, trauma, depression, isolation.
I'm a HCPC registered Art Therapist. Part of the support I offer is art therapy groups, which take place on Zoom with myself and co-therapist Anne Stegmann. Group members can be based anywhere across the UK. The online art therapy groups have been designed to provide a space for exploring thoughts, feelings and situations using art. Using creatively to detangle and make sense of our situations. The group format allows group members to join together, reflect and feel the support from each other. As time goes on the groups' connection will deepen, allowing this to become a powerfully connected, creative, safe space.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
