Do you feel stuck, sad, or anxious? Are you an adult struggling with life right now? Or a parent concerned for your child or teen? Life can throw up difficulties at any time, a difficult childhood, trauma, or a
relationship
breakdown. You or your child may have experienced bullying, difficulties fitting in or managing social and cultural expectations. These experiences can lead to the development of anxiety and low mood, self esteem issues, and other mental health difficulties. Therapy can help you to understand yourself, and the impact of your thoughts and behaviours more deeply.

Paramount to all these I believe that developing a trusting
relationship
while being aware of what happens between us is core to effective therapy.
Seeking therapy takes courage and finding the right therapist can be a daunting task. Perhaps you would like to make changes to your life but are unsure of where to begin? We can work together to help identify patterns and themes of your view of the world and yourself in it. We can think about how past experiences may have impacted on your ability to cope and function. With acquiring greater insight, awareness and meaning, we can work towards breaking destructive patterns and gain resources which will help you cope with difficulties and make profound changes to your life and relationships.

Hello there and welcome. Sometimes life can be overwhelming for all sorts of reasons and we may need a little help to try and work our way through it. Counselling can give us the help we need, by offering a safe place to sit with someone who is there to help you through those tough times. I understand that the decision to have counselling can perhaps be a difficult one, but I believe that together we can ease those fears and anxieties. Then, as we begin to develop a therapeutic and healing
relationship
, you will hopefully begin to feel more able to share all that is on your mind.

With intuition and empathy, I primarily focus on building an authentic therapeutic
relationship
, allowing the process to naturally unfold.
It may be the time in your life when you are feeling lost and confused. When your life has control over you rather then you being in control over your life. Or you may be stuck at the 'crossroads' and not sure which direction to take. Perhaps you may be looking for deeper meaning and understanding of yourself and those around you. Counselling can help to explore things you are finding difficult, to gain more understanding, deeper meaning and the sense of liberation that may come with it.

I have since trained in
couples counselling
(July 2021) working with
couples
and also parents & children.
Hello I'm Jen and I am a person-centred therapist and I have been in private practice since May 2020 where I see clients remotely. I offer person-centred therapy to both adults and children. Working as a person-centred therapist I believe the client is very much the driver of their own therapy journey and I am here to offer that safe space required to enable the client to freely explore what is going on for them at a pace which feels natural to the individual. There is no obligation to set goals as the therapy I provide is very fluid and can go in any direction as the therapy offered is all about the person and not goals or targets.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
