I also work with couples, siblings, parent and child and friendships, managing these relationships, gaining a better understanding of each other when life has become difficult.
We all need support at some point in our lives, to ask for help is often the most difficult step. Once you have taken that step you’ll be amazed at the results you can achieve when you have someone to really listen to your concerns. I will always listen to your concerns without judgment and with understanding and compassion.

Your life has taken a direction you did not choose: someone hurt you, or you have developed a physical health problem. You have tried hard to ignore your suffering until you can’t do it anymore. Things that used to be easy now feel impossible. You don’t recognise yourself anymore and you know you cannot carry on like this. This has left you feeling depressed, stressed, angry or even scared. You want to feel less overwhelmed and more in control. You want to go back to the person you once were, or maybe even find out who YOU are. But mostly you just want to be seen and heard and know that someone is on your side.

Then, as we begin to develop a therapeutic and healing relationship, you will hopefully begin to feel more able to share all that is on your mind.
I can offer you a cosy, comfortable space to sit and explore all that may currently be happening for you, in a non-judgemental, empathetic way. As we get to know each other, we can think about ways to work together that suit you personally. Perhaps you might like to be a little creative, or perhaps you would just like to talk.

I have since trained in couples counselling (2021) working with couples and also with parents & children.
Hello I'm Jen and I am a person-centred therapist. I have been in private practice since 2020 where I see clients remotely. I offer person-centred therapy to both adults and children from 12-18. Working as a person-centred therapist I believe the client is very much the driver of their own therapy journey and I am here to offer that safe space required to enable the client to freely explore what is going on for them at a pace which feels natural to the individual. There is no obligation to set goals as the therapy I provide is very fluid and can go in any direction as the therapy offered is all about the person and not targets.

Goals are often to feel happier, cope better at work or in relationships.
I feel that anxiety has almost reached epidemic levels and I bring strategies, self-esteem and positive affirmations that can help even in session one. Having ADHD naturally led me to specialise in those who suspect or know they have ADHD. There is nothing better than speaking to someone who has lived experience of the condition.

Starting personal therapy is a big decision and it makes sense to wonder where to start and which psychotherapist to choose. How would you know what’s right for you? Making the decision to tell someone about the things that bother you most is not an easy one. However, if you are here, I would guess there’s a need to talk. Whatever it is - whether it is problems in the present, memories of the past or worries about the future - I can promise you a safe and confidential space to talk about it. A journey to find out what can make things better for you is a lot easier if you’re not alone in it.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
