Outside of my private practice I work with
children
and young people and also volunteer for a counselling charity where I see people of all ages.
You will have your own reasons for coming to therapy. You may be finding it hard to cope, have a desire for change or life’s challenges may leave you anxious, stressed or depressed. You may be feeling stuck and unable to move forward or feel alone with difficult thoughts and feelings. I'm an empathetic, non-judgemental therapist who offers a confidential space where you can feel safe, understood and trusted as you start to explore the reasons why you feel the way you do.I will support you to understand the challenges you face and the changes you wish to make.

I have experience in working with both adult clients and
children
and started my counselling journey working in
children
and adolescent mental health for the NHS.
Hello I'm Jen and I am a person-centred therapist and I have been in private practice since May 2020 where I see clients remotely. I offer person-centred therapy to both adults and
children
. Working as a person-centred therapist I believe the client is very much the driver of their own therapy journey and I am here to offer that safe space required to enable the client to freely explore what is going on for them at a pace which feels natural to the individual. There is no obligation to set goals as the therapy I provide is very fluid and can go in any direction as the therapy offered is all about the person and not goals or targets.

Do you feel stuck, sad, or anxious? Are you an adult struggling with life right now? Or a parent concerned for your
child
or teen? Life can throw up difficulties at any time, a difficult childhood, trauma, or a relationship breakdown. You or your
child
may have experienced bullying, difficulties fitting in or managing social and cultural expectations. These experiences can lead to the development of anxiety and low mood, self esteem issues, and other mental health difficulties. Therapy can help you to understand yourself, and the impact of your thoughts and behaviours more deeply.

I'm experienced working with both
children
and adults, and offer both short and long term counselling.
As the saying goes, 'Its' good to talk', and I'm hear to listen. Whether life has just got a bit too much at the moment, or whether there are longer term factors and influences you'd like to explore and process, together, we can find a way. I could go into more detail, but for me, reading a blurb doesn't help establish whether I'm the right counsellor for you. If you've reached the point where you are actively looking I'd suggest sending me an email or giving me a bell, lets have a chat and see if I'm able to provide what you need.

My time working with young
children
and their families, along with raising my own
children
has provided me with a wealth of life experiences.
My approach to helping my clients with therapy and counselling services, is founded on the principle of Integrative Therapy. This means choosing the practices from different therapeutic modalities best suited to a client’s particular needs and wants. By tailoring the therapy to the individual, I hope to deliver the most meaningful outcomes. Integrative Therapy is not limited to a particular methodology and instead allows me to draw on different techniques as they are required. I work with a number of forms of therapy and personalise the approach to meet the types of challenges you may be facing.

Through my work I have noticed that
children
with low confidence and low self esteem can express this through becoming withdrawn and avoidant or becoming angry and controlling. Parents come to me and tell me their
child
always wants control or they feel like they are stepping on eggshells when around their
child
. Parents might say that they wish their
child
would make friends and be more sociable, they always play alone. As a play therapist I help
children
to become more confident and happy within themselves which enables them to have positive relationships with their family and peers.

Clients often seek counselling to help at times when they may need to resolve emotional, psychological or relationship issues. It can be difficult to talk to loved ones about their feelings and emotions. Counselling can be a positive way of addressing unresolved issues and useful in helping clients understand their own problems better. It can help people gain perspective of themselves and others and encourage self-awareness. By talking about and exploring your emotions and feelings it may help you come to your own conclusions bringing about positive changes and empowering you to take your next steps in life.

Hi! My name is Claudia (she/her). I'm a counsellor, therapist, mother, wife, daughter, dog lover, friend among many other roles! The challenges of having all these roles made me reflect on the importance of taking care of our mental health which led to my training in Gestalt Therapy. My profession is my passion and I feel privileged to help transform lives for the better. Many times, the way we deal with our problems and needs ends up keeping us stuck, generating more and more suffering like anxiety, depression and stress.

I know this because a long time ago it was me making that first phone call too. I work with a very wide range of issues - nothing is ever off limits with me. Whatever it is that's affecting you, I'm here to help. I work with teenagers, adults and families.

Child Counsellors
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
