Hi, thank you for stopping by. I work with adults experiencing burnout, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, relationship issues, masking and disconnection from themselves. Many of my clients are neurodivergent, highly sensitive or creative people who have spent years adapting to others' expectations while losing touch with their own needs. Living with this depth of feeling and awareness can be a strength, but it can also leave you feeling exhausted, misunderstood or unsure of who you are beneath the roles you have learned to play.

We are all products of our upbringing and experiences and sometimes this can lead to problems in the present. Anxiety, low self esteem and not feeling good in relationships for example. I can work with you to unravel what this is about and help you find new ways of coping and moving forwards. We can talk or use creative methods to facilitate this discovery process. I work with young people, adults and couples and the work is all driven by you and on your terms. I offer a free, initial meeting so you can decide if I am the right Counsellor for you. I also offer Clinical Supervision for other Professional Counsellors and Trainees.

Hi, I'm Julie, and I am passionate about working with people who have experienced abuse or trauma, whether it be sexual, physical or emotional. When we experience trauma we lose part of who we truly are because of the after effects, such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, nervous system disregulation, flashbacks and dissociation (when we feel distanced from our emotions or ‘spaced out’, as if we’re living on autopilot). I love helping people rediscover who they really are by creating an environment in which they feel safe and completely accepted. I don't analyse you but with careful listening will know what we need to work on.

You may feel your problems are too small or insignificant and may find it hard to understand why things seem so difficult but I am particularly equipped to work with those who really want to understand what might be underlying their current feelings of depression or anxiety.

Navigating life is hard and sometimes too much to bear alone. Things that once made sense lose meaning, relationships break down and our sense of purpose falters. Therapy is a space to untangle yourself, to make sense of who you are and where you are going. For me, having an awareness of the socio-political systems and structures we live within is just as important as understanding our internal worlds. We cannot separate who we are, and the problems we face, from the world around us. My approach tries to help you to see yourself not just as an individual but part of a larger collection of people, places and histories.

Psychotherapy is a rare invitation to speak and be listened to, to understand and be understood - a place to explore your self and your story, make sense of what you feel and why and ask how you might meet life's challenges in a more authentic, meaningful and fulfilling way. My approach is integrative, creative and embodied. It considers who you are and what happened to you, as well as what your heart desires. As a relational therapist, I also put your experience with me in therapy at the heart of our work together.

We need therapy at certain stages in our life to help us process feelings and thoughts - it can provide a way to manage difficult emotions and talk about ourselves in a confidential space away from loved ones and friends. My background is in Person-Centred and Existential Counselling, and I’ve been helping people since 2004. Over the years, I’ve incorporated various theories and practices into my approach, allowing me to offer a personalised, humanistic therapeutic experience. I work with individuals and couples online using Teams or Zoom.

My priority in our sessions together is to provide a safe space and a voice to YOU to help you navigate your way through your challenges and better understand why you think the way you think feel the way you feel and behave the way you behave. Each session is unique just like us. Sometimes our work together may lead more in to a coaching style of therapy clients have found this to be of benefit once a relationship has been established and seek more guidance and solution focused approaches.

Are you constantly fighting an internal battle? Whether it’s the weight of a 'loud' inner critic, burnout, or realising your own behaviours have started to worry you. These feelings are often signals that something deeper needs attention. You might be struggling to set boundaries or finding that past experiences are still showing up in your present life in ways you didn't expect. Hi I’m Anna, I work with adults who are ready to stop just “getting by” and start becoming who you always meant to be. I offer a safe, space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns, and how past experiences may still be influencing the present.

Suicidal Ideation Counsellors
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioural therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
