I work with young people, adults and couples and the work is all driven by you and on your terms.
Working with children and young people and my training in Trauma has given me an understanding of how we develop and learn ways to cope and adapt to difficult experiences. Often these methods cause difficulties in our relationships and our sense of who we are in this world in the present. We can look at these problems together to find new ways forwards.

I’ve worked across NHS, community, and inpatient settings with individuals, couples, and families.
I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Rather than following a one-size-fits-all model, I work collaboratively with you to find an approach that feels supportive, meaningful, and accessible.

I specialise in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) along side other integrative therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness and hypnotherapy. The framework my approach is built on is REBT, yet as each of us are different, I integrate the other therapies to suit each individual. Some clients benefit more from rationalising thoughts and beliefs, while some need help getting over the past, and some need help with moving forward. I work with my clients to address issues, create and reach goals, and to help them make the most of everyday life, without the struggles.

I work with adults, couples and young people.
My counselling practice is centred on the belief that difficulties can send us ‘off-track’ but we all have the capacity to find our way back, we might just need a little help. I work with what you bring, using the counselling approach that meets your individual needs, rather than fitting your needs into a predecided approach. For example you may need some immediate help with tools to manage your current symptoms, and then later want to look deeper into discovering the cause of those symptoms. Whatever you bring I will offer you the care, empathy and understanding without judgement.

If you are experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, negative beliefs or unhelpful thoughts and behaviour patterns you will already be aware of the negative impact they have on your physical health, your relationships and your life overall. These symptoms can be debilitating and overwhelming but did you realise that they could be a result of traumatic or painful experiences in your past and that there is a way to change this? I use EMDR therapy and more to help you reprocess these negative experiences to reduce their emotional impact, change your beliefs about yourself and significantly decrease your current symptoms.

As a psychologist, I combine professional expertise and rigorous training with compassion and warmth, to support you with tailored, meaningful therapy. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is the most important and effective factor in successful therapy, and I do not see people as labels. You may know exactly what you want help with or perhaps there's a mix of issues bringing you to therapy. Either way, we can explore what you need most now and come up with a plan to help you feel better and support positive change and growth.

I engage actively with my clients - whether you are an individual or a couple -and I focus on what is happening in the here and now between us.
I am a warm, honest and open counsellor with a flexible, creative, gentle yet challenging style. The relationship we develop will support you to explore and understand difficult issues; increase self awareness; and improve connection. Many clients come to me saying they feel "confused" "alone" "desperate" "lost". I will work with you to help you uncover and explore your truth, as so often we have lost sight of or do not even know what it is.

You may be coming to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or affected by experiences that continue to shape how you feel about yourself and your relationships. Many people I work with are navigating anxiety, low mood, trauma-related difficulties, or ongoing stress linked to work, relationships, health, or life transitions. Often, they are seeking greater understanding of themselves, relief from emotional distress, and a way forward that feels more manageable and meaningful.

I will support you whilst you find your inner resilience to make choices that feel authentic to you. I can also help if you have suffered a loss or are experiencing a transition in your life. I have personal and professional experience of the challenges of parenthood, including Postnatal Depression.

Marriage Counselling
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
