Working with children and young people and my training in Trauma has given me an understanding of how we develop and learn ways to cope and adapt to difficult experiences.
We are all products of our upbringing and experiences and sometimes this can lead to problems in the present. Anxiety, low self esteem and not feeling good in relationships for example. I can work with you to unravel what this is about and help you find new ways of coping and moving forwards. We can talk or use creative methods to facilitate this discovery process. I work with young people, adults and couples and the work is all driven by you and on your terms. I offer a free, initial meeting so you can decide if I am the right Counsellor for you.
I also offer Clinical Supervision for other Professional Counsellors and Trainees.

I offer support for the difficult, deeper feelings of children, teenagers, young adults, parents & infants and expectant parents.
I am led by how someone wants to work. This might be through talking, art therapy or play therapy (puppets, clay, paint, movement, music, sand play). (I have trainnings in both counselling and also child and adolescent psychotherapy.) For others it's useful to notice feelings in the body that may help us understand and shift what gets lodged in us.

I've been in your shoes, I know it takes a lot of courage to reach out and get support, whether it's for yourself, or someone you love, like your child.
Life often feels messy. Sometimes we can get trapped in a storm of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that we just can't figure out how to move through, and we can be left feeling frustrated and helpless. I really understand that, it can be unbearable to feel this way and we can feel worse for not knowing how to 'fix' it. The truth is that you don't need to be fixed - trust me on this. Instead, you are likely at a point where you could do with the right support and guidance to help you listen to what's happening within, and come to understand it in a different way that allows you to move forward.

My ideal client is one of complexity; I plan on to enrol onto a Doctorate becoming a counselling psychologist. I am a qualified counsellor and my knowledge base started 15 years ago when I fell ill. I have had an eventful life, including heart problems, strokes and many other issues. Through therapies, self help and determination I am happy with my life and I would love to share my knowledge. I have specialised in complex bereavement over the past 6 years seeing clients face to face and supporting them through the hard times. There is a need for more LGBT counsellors that understand and help.

I am committed to continued professional development in areas such as Clinical supervision, Internal Family Systems, adverse childhood experiences and attachment, racism and gender identity, sexual violence and trauma.
I facilitate space that allows co-created sessions, that suit the individual needs of those that I work with. There is no pressure to make art within the sessions but there is always a selection of art materials, alongside other creative tools to aid exploration of your inner world. Through the therapy, my clients are able to build a stronger sense of who they are and of the patterns that have formed in their lives and to consequently, begin to make the changes in their life and in their relationships that they desire. My work is also informed by Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviours change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).
What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way
What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
