Do you play the guitar? Do you have other ways to self-soothe or manage your emotions? Books maybe, reading and writing.
I can work with you around family issues, teen problems, child behaviour, ASC issues, illness and disability. I will support, collaborate and try to make sense of what is going on. All things eventually pass - I will offer to weather the storm with you. I won’t be judging you or not taking you seriously. We will work together - and it will be work - but we will also aim to have fun and be creative in our work.

Many people find this half hour to be the most enlightening experience of their adult life.
I have worked in the voluntary sector for several years supporting clients who are struggling with their emotions. I love what I do, and I am always delighted to see people find better mental health. My way of working is to listen very carefully to what you bring, and to understand where your distress lies, we will then explore how you can address your concerns, working together to provide an improved level of well-being for you.

You may be looking for relief from distressing thoughts or worries. You may be at a crossroads and unsure of your next steps. You may be looking to understand or heal from something that happened to you and the effects it had.

I have some availability for couples and individuals. I'm an integrative therapist (hu manistic/existential/psychoanalytic) also influenced by the cognitive awareness that comes from mindfulness. However, my practice is influenced just as much by my own lived experience and my doubts about the efficacy of the medical model of dealing with mental health issues. I've been practising since 2011 and have a broad range of experience of dealing with many aspects of hu man distress and suffering including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, bereavement and loss, and problems in family and other relationships.

I work collaboratively with clients, using evidence-based best practice to provide them with the tools and resilience they need to meet the future, integrating hu manistic, cognitive and behavioural therapies to help facilitate understanding and change.
Our past need not define our future. If you feel stuck, unhappy and are struggling to change, I can help. When in life we encounter distressing experiences our whole focus may be on surviving them. We can form patterns of thoughts and behaviour which help us cope, but which often continue unnoticed into our later lives. When these patterns of behaviour and relating remain our defaults, they may become obstacles to our future wellbeing. I offer a safe means to explore your thoughts and behaviours, to identify those which are unhelpful and to change, leaving behind obsolete past beliefs and behaviours to live the life you choose.

I have counselling experience in many fields, including loss, self-worth, anxiety & depression, spiritual problems, work-related issues, relationships, life goals, and 'trauma-informed'.
What do you need? It is sometimes helpful to ask yourself - "What are my main goals as I go for counselling? What is important to me right now? How would I like to change?" Often all someone needs is some quality time and space to be able to be themselves, and be heard - not feeling judged no matter what they say, and feel some compassion from somebody who cares. In the busy and sometimes harsh world in which we live, I provide that space for you to come as you are, work with your expressed goals, rediscover a new way forward, and deal with the problems you are experiencing. Often people find a positive change in this scenario.

These and many other issues can be addressed in the therapy room.
So often in our lives we reach a place where we are struggling in some capacity or another. It may be a deep-rooted issue that goes back to childhood, a past relationship or a trauma. It may be some destructive behaviour such as a form of self-harm or an eating disorder. It may be a negative thought process that is having an impact on our daily life. Whatever the issue, I believe counselling can help. Having a place where we can allow ourselves time and a calm space to think, talk and work things out can be absolutely priceless.
