It can be a daunting, nervous and courageous step when accessing psychological support and reading this means that you have already thought about this, which is an achievement! It can sometimes be difficult to prioritise and give importance to our own needs, it can make us feel guilty or undeserving. However, I believe self-care and self-love, are at the root of living a healthy well-being. I have a positive working attitude and strongly believe in creating an open and honest therapeutic relationship. I use different psychological frameworks and tailor my approach to effectively support my clients with their psychological distress.

Following qualification I undertook further training in EMDR and Experiential Dynamic Therapy, an approach focusing on emotional experience and what can get in the way of it.
Do you have a sense of being disconnected, or not quite happy in life without always being able to point to a clear reason why? You find yourself wanting to make sense of your experiences, but are not sure where to start? I work with individuals aged 17 and above experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, burnout, trauma, and difficulties rooted in early life experiences, as well as adjustment to parenting. I also work with people navigating physical health conditions, and have a developing interest in the area of pelvic health and menopause. I welcome individuals who identify as neurodivergent.

I’m a Chartered Counselling Psychologist (HCPC) offering online therapy across the UK. I provide a calm, confidential space to help you make sense of your experiences and develop new ways of coping.

Considering therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to turn. Sometimes it’s not easy to name what’s wrong—only that something doesn’t feel quite right... Or you may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, or the lasting impact of traumatic experiences, or even moving to a new country, which for you may be difficult to cope with. Therapy is a place to slow down and make sense of your thought patterns, emotions, and life experiences that have challenged and impaired your wellbeing. Whatever the challenge, you don’t have to carry it by yourself...

Do you feel stuck, lost and alone in life? Do you feel overwhelmed by your problems and struggle to understand why you feel so unhappy and unfulfilled? Do you worry about letting people get emotionally close to you and so tend to distance yourself from others? Yet then feel isolated and deeply unhappy? Have you always felt different or as though there was something wrong with you? Do you have a longing to understand yourself and feel an emotional connection with people in your life? I have worked with many people with these kinds of problems. It is likely that you experienced emotional neglect or trauma as a child.

As part of being a Psychologist, I am passionate about working with people, finding where they can gain more power in their life to affect the changes they want to see. I work with people with a wide range of difficulties and am keen to help them to contextualise their difficulties within their life experiences, to support the dropping of the toxic self-blame which often keeps people snagged, and to think about alternative ways of relating to themselves and others which opens up choices about where they might take their life in the future.

If anxiety is getting in the way of you living your life the way you want to, we can work together to change that. Anxiety can creep up on us and there doesn't need to have been a big trigger for it to have a real impact on our lives. I work with people to overcome a range of anxiety based difficulties and have a particular interest in supporting people with OCD, phobias and panic attacks. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help you understand your anxiety, become less fearful of it and find ways to tackle it. Therapy can also help you to recognise what you are already doing that is helpful - there is always more than you think!

EMDR Counsellors
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
