My expertise is, but my practice is not limited to, toxic emotional relational abuse, past and present, also I work with self esteem and assertiveness, negative thoughts and behavioural patterns, anxiety, and loss, through death or relationship problems/separation/divorce.
Maybe you feel confused, sad, numb, guilty, ashamed, lost, alone or anxious, with no clear idea of where to turn. Do you need understanding or, empathic support whilst you work through loss, anxiety, negative thoughts and behaviour, relationship problems, or natural life transition and personal crisis? I can help you. I whole heartedly understand how difficult sharing emotions can be, but allow me to reassure you that together we can find different or new ways of understanding your problems by discovering new insights/empowerment/self acceptance & resilience.

We dream of success, money, holidays, happy families and good health, but life doesn't always go to plan. When we are hit with the unexpected, a loss, a relationship that goes wrong, unbearable work pressures, troubled by unresolved experiences of the past or hopelessness about the future, our mental health is affected. We can feel sad, overwhelmed, fearful. We lose confidence and self-esteem. Our physical health suffers too and we can become dependent on medication, alcohol or other non-prescribed solutions. Counselling is a way out, providing support in a confidential, non-judgmental, understanding and empathetic relationship.

Counselling can be really helpful when you just need someone to talk to and it can offer so much more. When you are feeling like something is just not right or life seems so challenging, talking to a Counsellor can make the difference. Many people just want to feel better and get a sense of relief from the turmoil of life. It may be that a life event has really impacted on you, such as a bereavement, trauma or loss of a job. You may feel like the world just does not understand you or perhaps you are struggling to come to terms with your sexuality. There are many many different reasons why people choose counselling. We're all unique.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
