As a counsellor, I practice in a pluralistic way which means I draw upon different theoretical approaches when I work with you as an individual – after all, there is only one of you in the world! My aim is to attune to your individual needs and I strive to work in an authentic down to earth way that is interactive and collaborative. Counselling can be daunting so I will work with you at your pace, offering you a space that is non-judgemental, respectful and confidential. Everyone is different, but having a space to talk and actually be heard can be extremely powerful and healing; leading to a greater understanding of yourself.

I believe every relationship carries a unique story shaped by culture, family, faith, trauma, personality, and the nervous system. When couples struggle, it’s rarely about a lack of love — something in the system has become overwhelmed, unheard, or unprotected. I help partners slow down, feel safe, and truly hear each other with both their hearts and their nervous systems. My approach is gentle, direct, and respectful of each person’s story, including attachment needs, protective parts, cultural influences, and (where wanted) Christian faith.

Nick is a London-based and online solution-focused hypnotherapist specialising in various mental health concerns, including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, insomnia, IBS symptoms, confidence issues, and weight management. Solution-focused hypnotherapy works on 'how you want to be' (future-focused), instead of 'how you don't want to be' (problem-focused), helping people to rewire the connections in their brain to create new pathways of thinking and behaviour. This helps to adopt a calmer, more measured approach to life, helps reduce and remove any negative, unwanted symptoms, and helps someone live a happier and healthier life.

With the prevalence of disordered eating among those seeking weight loss surgery, I am committed to supporting this client group toward long-term sustainable change with the most effective outcome possible.
You may feel capable and organised in many areas of life, yet food can feel like the one place things quietly unravel. You might start the day with good intentions, only to find that by evening you're eating in a way that doesn't match what you truly want. Afterwards comes frustration, guilt, or the familiar promise to "start again tomorrow." Struggles with food rarely come down to willpower. For many people — particularly those with ADHD, or those who've always felt wired a little differently — eating becomes entangled with dopamine, emotional regulation, and the exhaustion of masking.

Hello and welcome. I am a Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapist and clinical psychologist, integrating TA with body psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I work both individually and in groups, specializing in eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating disorder).
Many people come to therapy after trying numerous behavioral approaches—diet plans, discipline, exercise—with little lasting change. This makes sense, as eating disorders are not issues of willpower but of emotional regulation; the behaviors are symptoms, not the root.

Weight Loss Counsellors
What is the relationship between weight management and mental health?
Mental health can be significantly influenced by one's physical health, so overall improvements in one's quality of life as a result of improved physical functioning from weight loss can have an overall positive impact on an individual's mental health and allow them to engage more readily in everyday activities. In addition, many strategies used to manage weight, such as exercise and maintaining a healthy diet, are also associated with reducing the symptoms of common mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression. Individuals may also benefit from the improved self-esteem and self-efficacy that can come with successful weight management.
What is the psychological approach to losing weight?
While there are no specific therapy modalities specifically for weight loss, common psychological therapies can be highly effective in helping clients make lasting lifestyle changes. This may be called the "psychological approach" to weight loss because it does not rely on physical interventions, such as medication or weight loss surgery, to help clients lose weight. Weight loss counselling can be used in addition to or instead of such physical interventions. Some clients simply seek therapy to address the challenges that may accompany weight loss in general, including negative thoughts surrounding their body, disordered eating patterns, or difficulty completing daily tasks as a result of their weight challenges. In such cases, therapists will often utilise behavioural coaching or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to help clients understand how their thoughts may be influencing their diet and physical activity patterns.
What type of therapy is commonly used in weight loss counselling?
Weight loss counseling often involves a combination of therapy and psychoeducation. Common techniques used by weight loss counselors include journalling, thought diaries, and other Cognitive Behavioural Therapy strategies that encourage clients to consider how their feelings about their weight loss impact their mental health. Weight loss counsellors may also teach clients mindfulness exercises, which can be used by clients during and after eating to be more aware of physical cues from their body surrounding eating. Some clients looking for weight loss therapy may also benefit from group therapy approaches, which utilise the power of social connection and accountability to help clients adhere to their weight loss plan.
Is therapy recommended for individuals undergoing bariatric surgery?
While therapy is not a requirement for individuals undergoing bariatric surgery, many individuals undergoing weight loss surgery may benefit from seeing a counsellor. Prior to surgery, counsellors can help clients decide whether surgical weight loss is a good fit for them and assist in surgery preparation. Post-surgery, counsellors can assist clients with the psychological component of maintaining their weight loss, as well as help clients navigate any postoperative pain. Throughout the surgical process, therapists can help clients process body-image challenges that may come with dramatic changes in weight, as well as manage symptoms of anxiety or depression that may accompany the major life changes bariatric surgery can bring.
