As a counsellor, I practice in a pluralistic way which means I draw upon different theoretical approaches when I work with you as an individual – after all, there is only one of you in the world! My aim is to attune to your individual needs and I strive to work in an authentic down to earth way that is interactive and collaborative. Counselling can be daunting so I will work with you at your pace, offering you a space that is non-judgemental, respectful and confidential. Everyone is different, but having a space to talk and actually be heard can be extremely powerful and healing; leading to a greater understanding of yourself.

We can help you learn how to guide yourself with compassion, acceptance, and awareness, so you can feel more emotionally at ease, build self-worth, and do more of the things that make life feel meaningful and enjoyable.
You might feel constantly anxious - tense, on edge, or caught in worry.
Or you might feel low, flat, and unsure how to find joy again.
Some women come to us feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns in relationships or worn down by people-pleasing or self-criticism. Others are processing trauma or navigating big life changes - from early motherhood to menopause - that have unsettled their confidence. However it shows up, the common thread is emotional overload whilst trying to hold it all together. If you're a woman who wants to feel calmer, more secure in yourself, and able to enjoy life without so much pressure, then we're here for you.

ACT - move into a place of acceptance and towards your goals.
I was going to say a few things about me, but that's not why you're here. You're here because you recognise it's time to talk about you. I can help with that. I have worked extensively with clients who experience professional "burn out", relationship issues, bereavement and loss. The list goes on. Having juggled work, family, personal loss, training and much more in recent years, I understand overwhelm. This experience means that I will listen without judgement, empathise and help you find ways to cope, moving on from the unhealthy habits and emotions you're stuck in. We'll work together towards your goals.

Whether you are an adolescent, adult, sports person or busy executive there are some common themes that resonate with my clients: Finding it hard to make decisions - fear of getting it wrong and constantly worrying/Being less tolerant, irritable over things that wouldn't normally bother you/Needing to do everything perfectly and setting high unrealistic expectations resulting in procrastination/Never feeling you have done enough/A very critical internal voice - Exhausting! Most of my clients want to quieten that negative voice and find ways to achieve and live life without the gnawing anxiety and self-doubt

Learning to understand and regulate emotions is important for children to build healthy relationships with themselves and those around them. Being able to express feelings and experiences in a safe environment helps children work through emotional and behavioural challenges, develop self-confidence and emotional resilience as they grow. It is equally important for parents to receive support while improving their relationship with their children and learn how to manage everyday challenges.
With 8 years experience, I create spaces where children aged 3-12 and parents feel heard and understood.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
