My areas of expertise include mood disorders (such as anxiety and depression); difficulties in relationships; addictive and compulsive behaviours; intrusive thoughts and
OCD
; pregnancy loss, infertility and postpartum depression; a history of sexual abuse.
Thanks for stopping at my profile. I'm an experienced and dedicated psychodynamic therapist and I work primarily with adults in my private practice in Hove. I am very passionate about psychodynamic therapy as I've had the first-hand experience of how it can help people overcome and resolve a variety of issues, from mild to severe. Psychodynamic therapy is an in-depth psychological intervention which is explorative in nature and focused on free expression. Often open-ended, it offers rewards for those who undertake it that can be life-changing, including a robust sense of self, easier relationships and an ability to live free of fear

Therapy can help those who would like to: make sense of the past; handle emotions differently; overcome feelings of depression or anxiety; improve relationships with others; live life with more passion, confidence and contentment; be free of self-doubt or shame; make professional changes; improve performance; make difficult choices; move beyond abuse or trauma; deal with things that hold them back in life. I offer support and also, at times, some challenge to help you move beyond your comfort zone and get you where you'd like to be. Reaching out for help can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but it is an act of self-care.

At times we can struggle with our circumstances and relationships. This may result in feeling confused and overwhelmed. Traumas past and present impact upon our quality of life and coping mechanisms can fail or become unhelpful. Counselling allows some time and space to focus on your issues and it can provide insight and clarity. It's an opportunity for honest open communication, without the fear of judgement and negative repercussions. This self-exploration tends to aid growth and healing, ultimately resulting in change and acceptance. I support you rather than diagnose or label, being with you through life's challenges.

Sometimes it’s difficult to know where you can turn to talk through family issues and get some help. Often those closest to you are very involved themselves. Or you don’t want to worry them. It may be that you don’t know where to turn. I am a highly experienced Child Psychotherapist. I offer therapy and mental health support for children and young people and consultation to the people who care for them. Therapy provides a safe space to explore issues that might be troubling someone, be it anxiety, stress and unhappiness; separation and loss; worries about school; gender and sexuality; low self esteem or any number of other things.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviours that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). It affects children, kids, teens and adults. Often the person carries out the behaviours to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief. Not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety. A person's level of OCD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school or even to lead a comfortable existence in the home.
