I specialise in Anxiety and its peripheral conditions like OCD, Phobias and Generalised Anxiety Disorder.
Before I tell a little about myself, allow me to say, well done for getting this far! I appreciate that many people become a little anxious at the prospect of an intense atmosphere in a counselling room. Thats not how I work though. My first aim is to help you relax. To see that yes, it is a 'safe and confidential environment for you to talk about anything that you want'. But there's no need for it to be a heavy and intense atmosphere either. I believe we can be practical, pragmatic and make some real changes without sacrificing empathy or compassion.

Hi. Sometimes we can find ourselves in troubling and distressing times, not knowing how to find our way out. It can be much easier and achievable when shared with someone who can support and guide you through it. It can feel very lonely and isolating, often a place you never expected to find yourself in and living through. Finding a way out and some peace can feel like an impossible task. Being able to talk to someone in a non-judgemental environment that gets and understands you can be a massive relief. To know that you have the support of an experienced qualified counsellor is a great support with working through your concerns.

Hello and welcome to my page. I recognise the courage it takes to approach a therapist and would like to help you. Over ten years of practising, therapy has shown me time and time again how people can overcome their problems successfully and live fulfilled and happy lives. In today's pressured world, mental health problems are all too common. Maybe you're struggling with depression or stress or the problem is anxiety, or trauma, or grief. Perhaps you're struggling with a habit that started off as a pleasure but turned into an addiction over lockdown. Whatever the mental health problem, talking therapy can help.

Life can be incredibly painful and confusing. There can be times we don’t know what to do or where to turn. Counselling and psychotherapy can offer a safe space to try and work things out and find a better, more fulfilling way of life. It can sometimes helpful to look at the past, to help us better understand And heal the present. I have over 20 years experience. I also work for BACP - British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy in the Professional Standards team.

I’m trained in multiple approaches (including ACT and ERP which are the best-researched approaches for anxiety and OCD), which means I can adapt the sessions to you and the type of anxiety you're experiencing, and that’s often what makes the difference.
Anxiety has a way of shaping more of your life than you'd like. For some people it looks like panic or physical sensations. For others it's never feeling good enough, holding back in relationships, going quiet when they'd want to speak up, or pushing through everything until they're exhausted
People come to me thinking something is wrong with them, when actually fear is keeping them stuck.

You may be feeling exhausted from trying to fit in, feeling too much, not enough or constantly misunderstood..
Maybe you are having difficulty enjoying life, suffering from recurring negative or intrusive thoughts, or struggling with relationships?...or parenting feels overwhelming?
I’m a late-diagnosed AuDHD woman, whose own life experiences have inspired me to train as a psychotherapeutic counsellor.

I've worked with adults experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, such as anxiety, low mood, OCD, and trauma.
It’s not always easy to make space for yourself. Therapy can help give you that space, to finally slow down, reflect, and make sense of what’s been feeling difficult. I work with adults who want a supportive space to talk openly, better understand themselves, and navigate the challenges they’re facing.

I offer CBT informed by over a decade of NHS child and adolescent and eating‑disorder experience, integrating ACT and compassion‑focused approaches to support meaningful, sustainable change.

The most common problems I see include: Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia, Health Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Phobias.
I have over 10 years of experience working with adults to overcome mental health problems. CBT is an ideal treatment for those who are looking to change, whether that be to make some changes in the way in which you think about things, or some changes in the way in which you do things day to day. CBT can also help clients come to an understanding of 'why', E.G. what is it about you, your experiences & vulnerabilities which perhaps help explain why you struggle. This is often validating & helpful rather than self blaming. Together we will equip you with the skills and understanding you need in order to move forward with confidence.

Firstly I want you to know that I love my job! I consider it a privilege to work with people, who are open minded enough to recognise that together, we can find tools to help improve their lives and get to the root of troubling issues, I have 17 years experience in a listening and counselling role.
In 2009 my life changed direction dramatically, I began working in a therapeutic role. I have not regretted a second of the experience. It’s a privilege and joy to watch the lives of people I work with transforming, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, I go at my client’s pace.

How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
