Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you’ve spent a long time holding everything together on your own. You’ve done your best to manage, but it’s becoming harder to keep going. You’re here because you want things to feel different: calmer, clearer, and more in your control. You don’t need to have all the answers before you start; you just need a safe, structured space to make sense of what’s happening and take steady steps forward.

Distress in life can bring about: confusion, pain, self-blame, anger, self-blame, isolation, loneliness, negative coping mechanism and many other symptoms. It is important to know that anyone of us can experience mental distress and there are several reasons why this may happen, including: trauma, difficult life events, early life experiences and biological basis. My job is to people make sense of their concerns, and find balance during these difficult times so that they can get to their optimum level of functioning again.

I am seeing clients in person, we can socially distance in my space which is well ventilated.
I am an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working with couples and individuals. I draw from a range of different ways of working that fits your needs, including EMDR if you're experiencing PTSD. It can feel daunting approaching someone to talk to about the problems you are experiencing. At some point in our lives we all experience distressing events, difficult feelings or relationships and a little support at those times can go a long way. Whatever you’re experiencing, you don’t have to face it alone.

In Person-Centered therapy, I offer a supportive and collaborative space to explore and work through challenging emotions and life experiences.
I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or at a turning point in life. Some are questioning their relationships, work, or sense of identity, while others are navigating bereavement, difficult past experiences, illness, or other significant life events. Many have spent years coping or putting others first before seeking support. Therapy offers space to make sense of your experiences, understand how the past may be shaping the present, and move towards a life that feels more grounded and aligned. I also offer child psychotherapy using a child-centred, creative approach.

When your mind refuses to clock off, life can feel exhausting. You might be caught in frightening thoughts, endless “what ifs”, checking, overthinking or seeking reassurance, hoping you’ll feel certain. Annoyingly, brains rarely work like that, and the harder you try to solve everything, the more stuck you can feel. I offer warm, down-to-earth, neuro-affirming CBT for adolescents, adults and parents experiencing anxiety, OCD, emotional overwhelm, ADHD or autism, with practical strategies, humour and no judgement.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
