Not everybody has been fortunate enough to have been heard. To talk and feel they are being listened to. I would like to be able to give you this opportunity. In a safe, reliable and comfortable setting I will offer you a non-judgemental space in which to explore difficult feelings and share your thoughts. Life is often fast paced and I would like to offer you the opportunity to slow down a little.

It's ok not to be ok... Your issues, conflicts, feelings and emotions are always valid. Even if it seems like other people have experienced ‘worse’ or experienced the same and don’t feel affected by them. Even if what troubles you happened a long time ago, even if no one knows, your hurting is real and you deserve a space to talk about it. It isn’t desperate or needy or attention-seeking, it’s self-care and probably the bravest thing you’ll ever do...

With experience in addiction, abuse, bereavement, relationships, sexuality and gender issues, loss & trauma, I am resilient and able to support you through whatever has brought you to seek counselling.
It may not be visible but you are suffering inside, and you have taken the first courageous step, seeking a therapist. Life may seem OK and up to now you have managed but something inside is stirring, and its hard to carry on as you have been. You have been judged, not heard and felt worthless or invisible, and you may feel anxious, angry, depressed, detached, frightened, vulnerable, low self worth, unmotivated and unable to trust your own judgement right now. I believe you have an innate ability to be more, and can support you to work through these feelings. Take the next brave step if you are ready and call for a consultation.

We all want to feel good in our skin, to be understood and enjoy life. Sometimes life brings challenges, the way is unclear, or it all just fees overwhelming. Maybe changes in life or relationships are challenging. You might be anxious or depressed, and want to be in a different place but feel stuck. I believe that we have inner wisdom that can guide us, if provided with a safe space, to be ourselves, to share and reflect. You might be looking for support in making sense of things, letting go and getting closer to your needs. A place to explore your emotions and experiences in a meaningful way, towards positive changes.

I have worked extensively with clients who experience professional "burn out", relationship issues, bereavement and loss.
I work primarily with a form of CBT called Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). This works on your rigid demands and core beliefs which are often unrecognised as the root of your emotional problems. As an Integrative therapist, I will use other counselling and therapy techniques where they will be of benefit to you.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
