Hi! I’m Ellie, a trainee psychotherapist with three years of clinical experience and a registered member of the UKCP. Seeking therapy can feel like a big or uncertain step. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of your direction. Sometimes there may not be a clear issue to point to - just a sense that something feels off, or a desire to understand yourself and your experiences more deeply. I aim to offer a therapeutic relationship grounded in warmth, honesty, and mutual respect, providing a collaborative space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace and deepen self-understanding.

Whilst clients come to me for many different reasons, I specialise in trauma and sexual abuse.
There are times in life you can feel that you need some help. Maybe you are finding it hard to cope with the day-to-day, struggling to deal with something from your past; or you are looking to live a more fulfilled life. Whatever your need is, having someone to talk to, who is separate from your friends and/or family, can be just what is needed. This is where therapy can help.

Drawing on 20 years’ experience, I see therapy as a space to come to know yourself more deeply and with care. When emotions are met with curiosity rather than fear, they often feel less frightening and overwhelming - life feels richer for it. I have a deep trust in the healing potential of the counselling & psychotherapy relationship. I offer a space where you feel listened to, respected, & where you can speak in your own voice. I value forming genuine, compassionate relationships & believe we understand one another through our shared humanity. When we feel truly met & accepted as we are, meaningful change becomes possible.

I work with people struggling with anxiety, overwhelm and depression, often rooted in trauma, relational challenges, life transitions and losses, or neurodivergent identity.
With compassion, guided exploration and somatic tools, you can find your way through. Together, we can explore what’s happening beneath the surface to understand what anxiety means for you now and what role it had in your history. Second, you will learn to support yourself in "peak" moments, , regulating your nervous system and body to a state of safety.

Whether or not you personally use the term " trauma", you might feel or wonder if you’re carrying elements of pain and difficulty from your past.
I adapt to what you actually need - Some people need to understand why they keep repeating the same patterns. Others need practical tools to help them get through the day. Some need to process specific experiences they've never talked about. You stay in control - You're never pushed to share more than you're ready for.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
