I can also support with sleep problems, chronic fatigue and anxiety.
I can help by listening and by understanding together what the challenges are that are you currently facing. For example, this could be with worry, sleep, exercise and general well-being. We will work together to decide the areas in your life that are important to you, and I will help you develop skills in managing difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions.

I am also trained in bereavement counselling and as a sleep practitioner.
I know that even thinking about counselling is a big decision and can seem really overwhelming, but it can be an opportunity for you to be in a safe space that is purely for you to explore what you are finding difficult. Before you even come to a session, lets have a chat to see if it feels right before taking the next step. I work with what you bring into the room, however, people learn in different ways and I can work in a Person Centred way or with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or even a mixture of both. As a trained listener, I aim to develop a therapeutic relationship to help you explore your issues at a pace to suit you.

I help strong, capable, and dependable individuals - the ones everyone relies on - who carry their own needs and everyone else’s on their shoulders. From the outside they appear resilient and in control, but inside they are often exhausted. I offer a space where they no longer have to “handle it” alone.

My role, as a psychodynamic therapist, is to provide an environment that is confidential and safe. This is why I do what I do. I provide an outside perspective to help you understand how your past influences present behaviours; your use of defences to avoid reality and awareness of how unconscious reoccurrence operates in your life. With your assistance my aim is to develop different strategies in making better choices to existing problems and explore beliefs of past feelings, memories. This doesn’t mean all your life is broken, but certain grey areas compromising the relationships you’re having with self and others.

There comes a time when everyone can feel exhausted, when everything seems fine on the outside, inside, there is chaos; you may be tired, work can be demanding, and bills are high. There seems to be no relief; family or relationships may be difficult with the strain of life. You could be experiencing a relationship breakdown or feel unable to cope and function with everyday life, but you still have to keep going. When studying is overwhelming, deadlines feel impossible to reach. Getting old and ageing can bring challenges of their own, such as tiredness, regret, and menopause. Losing someone you loved; recovering from addiction

Many people experience low moods, feeling something is not quite “right” and not sure why. Others feel overwhelmed with their own feelings, or something life changing happened, all your feelings are spinning and you need space to process what has happened to you. When this is affecting your quality of life, then it’s time to seek therapy. Life can be incredibly tough at times , and in our most challenging moments it can be difficult to reach out to those around us for help, you may not be able, or you may not want to worry your family/friends. Do you need someone to talk to? Whatever you are struggling with, I am here to help.

If you are looking for counselling services that specialise in neurodiversity, additional needs and siblings support, reach out today. Young people deserve to be heard, understood and supported on their journey to wellbeing. Parenting is challenging in the best of circumstances—even neurotypical children have immature self-regulation. But parenting a neurodivergent child is rewarding but also can be a different category of challenges. Having lived experience as a parent, a young person's unhappiness permeates to the whole family. Counselling not only supports your young person but also the wellbeing of the whole family too.

I am an integrative psychotherapist and work with individuals aged 18+ for both short-term and open-ended therapy. People seek therapy for different reasons. Often it is because they feel stuck, stressed, overwhelmed or hurt. You might be struggling with a relationship, coping with stress or hoping to change a behaviour that is not working for you. When things are difficult, a psychotherapist can support you and help you to grow in whichever way is right for you. I won't tell you what to do, but I will support you to find a way forward for yourself. I am accredited by the UKCP and a member of the BACP.

Your body stays tense, your mind won’t switch off, and sleep doesn’t bring the rest you need.
EMDR works through enabling a person to effectively process the thoughts, memory and bodily sensations connected to the traumatic memory. EMDR does this through taxing the working memory, which allows the feelings to be processed, without being relived.

Unhelpful thoughts and uncomfortable feelings are part of being human. Sometimes however, we can get stuck in a painful vicious cycle by reacting in unhelpful ways to them. This doesn’t mean we’re broken only stuck. If you’d like to learn new ways of responding to these thoughts and feelings then I can help. I have a lot of experience assessing and treating a wide range of problems using CBT. I use a range of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and mindfulness tools to enhance and compliment traditional CBT. I find this approach effective in helping people to recognise and break unhelpful patterns, overcome problems and prevent relapse.

You may be coping with anxiety, past trauma, grief, relationship stress, or the pressure to appear strong while you’re struggling inside. I offer a calm, respectful space where you can explore your emotions, understand yourself more deeply, and begin healing at your own pace. I work fluently in English, Arabic and Somali, and I value every part of your story.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
