, building trust to create a safe helping relationship where people can work through complex emotions and traumatic experiences giving rise to depression, anxiety, PTSD, low self-esteem and mental health problems.
In counselling you can speak to someone in confidence, who will listen as you talk through your thoughts feelings and problems. I offer a safe space where I will work with you to understand your difficulties without criticism or judgement. I can help you explore the things that are causing you trouble and come to a better understanding of yourself. Hello, I'm Zareeda and I work with people on issues ranging from rape and
sexual abuse
to stress, bereavement, anxiety and depression. If you are struggling to find meaning in life you may be feeling disconnected from yourself and/or those around you. This loss of contact with yourself, your needs, values and beliefs may decrease your trust in your ability to form and build meaningful relationships and achieve personal goals.

My work includes helping adult clients of all ages with a broad range of issues such as childhood abuse,
sexual abuse
, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, identity, relationship problems, feelings of isolation, low self-esteem, life transitions, loss, and death.
I am a bilingual psychotherapist offering ongoing and time-limited therapy both in English and Vietnamese. To me, therapy is an opportunity for us to explore ourselves, and search for meanings in life. My aim is to offer you a place where you can talk about your concerns freely and reflect on the situations that you find yourself in. I attempt to help you make some sense of your experiences, and through this process, possibilities might come to light, and you can then decide what you would like to do next.

My name is Austen and I provide Psychotherapy to individuals in Manchester City Centre and also Online. I qualified in 2011 and since then I have undertaken specialist training in the areas of Trauma, Emotional Regulation and Sexuality related problems. Trauma can take many forms; you might be struggling with the impact of childhood
sexual abuse
and neglect. Alternatively, isolation and shame as a teen may have lead you to lose yourself in sex or porn addiction. Many of my clients have previous experience of therapy and are now seeking a therapist with specific knowledge and experience and a therapeutic approach that is focused.

Feeling SAD, CONFUSED and/or ANGRY? Feeling stuck/trapped? What's the point? Nothing changes? I know the fears of opening up emotionally or mentally. I also know now of how beneficial it is for YOU. To have time to understand your 'self' so that YOU can process and heal, change YOUR future. It's empowering. I have studied for 6 years, to Masters level. Committed to my own personal development. Losing nearly three stone in weight (an emotional eater). Unattached from drinking 5 times a week to now occasionally socially or sometimes I just drink water and ice! Smoking and a fitter body is next. YOU are important! Take control back!

By feeling connected with me, we can work together to help you feel connected to the world, the people you love and more importantly yourself. For some time now you might have been struggling to make sense of how you are feeling and wish to talk things through with a professional. This could relate to difficulties with your mood and some behaviours you are not happy with and want to explore and work on these. Perhaps this was because of a recent event, or something that is related to your early childhood experiences, or even a combination of different life circumstances. You may be thinking that despite already seeking help for some of the issues that you have been facing, you feel unfulfilled and think that something is missing in terms of healing.

There's no right or wrong reason to speak to me and no right or wrong thing to say (or not say, maybe you just want some quiet). Maybe things just don't feel right or you have clear goals but can't get there, maybe there's this thing but... However you find yourself now, I look forward to meeting you.

Sexual Abuse Counsellors
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
