I have 25 years of therapeutic experience. I work Online with Adults and Couples based in the UK. I specialise in working with autistic & neurodivergent people. I provide an accessible & compassionate service enabling people to learn about themselves and to address what is difficult in their lives. If we have been insufficiently understood and accepted we develop ways of being and doing that do not support our well being. With an understanding, trusted therapist we can begin to make sense of who we are, how we are and what has happened to us in our lives. We can be truer to ourselves and live with more confidence, ease and freedom.

You may be coming to therapy because something feels stuck or unsettled — perhaps patterns in relationships keep repeating, you feel disconnected from yourself, or you’re navigating a period of change, loss, or uncertainty. You might be thoughtful and self-aware, yet still finding it hard to make sense of what you’re feeling or how to move forward. Many people I work with are holding both personal challenges and the wider pressures of living in complex and polarised times.

People seek therapy for different reasons. You may be feeling low, depressed, anxious or stressed; or perhaps you just have the feeling that things are not quite right. It might be that the distress is such that you cannot function at all. These could be recent feelings or you may have been experiencing them for years. In any case, counselling or psychotherapy can help you make sense of things, explore different options or make changes. Some of these issues can be sorted after a few sessions; in other instances, a more long-term approach will be needed.

Hello. My name is Kate Trott. I'm a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist. I want to offer you a safe space where you can feel seen and heard, cared for, and accepted as yourself. You may be feeling it's hard to have a voice; to acknowledge to others or even to yourself the distress, confusion, frustration, fear, sense of loss, or perhaps shame you may be experiencing. As a result, you may feel 'missed', lonely, isolated; that others assume you're 'coping' in daily life, relationships, at work, with illness, loss or change, or with experiences from the past. You may be considering links between feelings and physical health.

"Having walked a certain path, as a Christian, my Faith in God and leaning on Him has been the greatest pillar I ever held on to experiencing my own post-traumatic growth. However, I value individual differences, respect, diversity, culture, integrity, honesty and ability to find your own path, grow, connect and build an enduring relationship. I firmly believe individuals can be empowered to find their own solutions. I am aware I might not have all the answers or solutions, but I could give one or two suggestions. I am happy to sit with people who find themselves in a dilemma, stuck in difficult and uncomfortable situations".

There are so many reasons why people might seek therapy: you may feel low or depressed, anxious, or stressed, or perhaps need help in making sense of your life. Human issues and experiences can touch and affect us in unique ways: loss, grief, abuse, relationships (past or present), life changes, parenting, loneliness or trauma, and therapy can provide a space to help you explore and make sense of these issues. If you feel trapped by self doubt, toxic relationships, or unresolved trauma, healing is possible and you do not have to do it alone.

Hi, I’m Julia. I specialise in supporting those who are navigating neurodivergence, anxiety, and the effects of trauma. Perhaps you’re feeling like you’re on the edge, and you can’t keep up the pretence anymore. I’ve been there too. I’m a therapist who understands the emotional weight of carrying a heavy family load — the guilt, frustration, and exhaustion that comes from advocating for your children and exploring your own neurodivergence. I know how isolating it can feel when you’re trying to hold everything together. You don’t have to do it alone.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
