You may be going through a difficult period or simply feel the need to talk things through. I work with young adults and professionals aged 18–25 who are navigating identity, career pressures, relationships, and the impact of social media and comparison. In our sessions, we explore what feels most important to you at your pace. I won’t push you in any direction. Instead, I offer a supportive space to help you build clarity, confidence, and trust in yourself.

Maybe you’re functioning on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out, or quietly unhappy. You might be carrying a lot – work pressure, family responsibility, relationship strain – while feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure what you really need. I’m a qualified relational, humanistic psychotherapist offering therapy in Sevenoaks (Kent), central London and online. I work with people who want to understand themselves more deeply and find a way through anxiety, low mood, shame, grief, life transitions, and the feeling of “something not being right” even when life looks fine on paper.

Have you been feeling you're stuck in a rut, you have no one you can talk to in confidence without being judged.   You may be struggling with anxiety, a lack of clarity and questioning your own identity with others, leading to low self-esteem and self-worth, and with no sense of direction.

Did you have a difficult childhood? Perhaps you feel resigned to the fact that 'this is just how my life has always been and how it will always be'. But yet you also know that you are unhappy and want more for yourself? We are all affected by the start we had in life. If you find that you are now experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, depression, relationship difficulties etc then it's possible that your difficult experiences in your past are still negatively impacting your happiness in the present. Together we can safely explore this and make positive changes. We can't change your past but we CAN change your future.

I have a wealth of experience in helping people to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing. As a clinical psychologist I value the therapeutic relationship and think that it is vital to find a therapist you 'click' with. My personable, warm and empathetic nature has helped many people to overcome the difficulties holding them back in life. It can be daunting to embark on a therapy journey with someone - I am mindful of this and will help you to feel relaxed and comfortable when using therapy for your personal development.

Life itself is complex and through no fault of our own brings up many challenges that can lead to worry, anxiety, self-criticism, stress and low-esteem to name a few. As a clinical psychologist, I am flexible in my approach and work with a range of difficulties. I strongly believe therapy can be such a rewarding experience and the importance of creating a safe space in offering a non-judgemental and compassionate place for a person to feel heard and understood as we work together towards what is important to you. As such, issues relating to past or present, it is a space to create self-awareness and further move towards your values.

Hello, I’m Denise Palmer. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, low confidence, or struggling to maintain changes they’ve worked hard to achieve — particularly around weight, food, or wellbeing. If you’re finding that old habits, stress, or self-doubt are creeping back in, you’re not alone. I help adults move away from feeling controlled by anxiety, emotional eating, or self-criticism, and towards feeling calmer, more confident, and better equipped to manage life’s pressures in a sustainable way.

Most of my clients are neurodivergent and/or queer and want to explore what that means for them with someone who understands. Are you living with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or the impact of past experiences that still affect how safe you feel in relationships? Maybe you struggle with self-esteem, overthinking, trauma responses, or patterns linked to neurodivergence such as burnout or masking? Some clients come questioning their identity, sexuality, or sense of self; others feel stuck using coping behaviours that no longer help. You don’t need a diagnosis, just the sense that something needs understanding.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
