Have you suffered a loss or bereavement?
I recently worked with a national bereavement charity, and have extensive training and experience working with loss and grief. Loss comes in many forms and can be recent or historic. We can find ourselves coping in unhelpful ways, and struggling with anxieties and low mood. I can help you untangle your feelings, to help you see a clearer way forward.

Does life ever feel completely overwhelming, as if navigating it is an impossible task? Finding someone who truly listens can seem daunting, especially when it’s hard to hear your thoughts whilst disconnected from your own voice, amid the noise of daily life, past experiences, and the heavy weight of expectation—whether your own or those of others. Self-discovery can often feel like untangling knots, especially when the journey feels like it’s not straightforward or easy, but, having a safe and supportive space for this process is invaluable.

I specialise in helping individuals deal with common life problems including anxiety, depression, relationship breakdown and bereavement.
Are you feeling depressed, confused about what you feel, ground down to the point where you feel unable to cope, or simply wishing you could talk to someone and feel understood? Individuals choose therapy for a variety of reasons and often the biggest hurdle to getting help is an inner voice telling us our problems are nothing special and we should "just get on with it". I provide a safe, empathic environment where you can talk about your concerns without fear of being judged and to provide you with the means to work out your own answers and create the life you want.

My experience includes working in Hospitals and Hospices and for a national bereavement charity.
Pushing away your needs and not taking time for yourself can lead to long-term issues for both your mind and your body. I believe that there is no right or wrong way to grieve any loss and that whilst everything around you may have changed, your life can go on and it is okay to smile and laugh again.

You may turn to counselling because of a general sense of wanting to make a change, lack of direction or unsure of your purpose or it may be for something more specific such as anxiety, bereavement, addiction.
I believe that we are all unique and as an integrative therapist I can adapt the way I work to best suit your needs. I can offer a non directive approach or more solution focused approach depending on what works best for you. I have experience working in hospices, school settings and counselling services.

I am Neurodivergent myself & work with many ND clients also with chronic pain, narcasistic relationships, bereavement, depression, anxiety, self harm, low self-esteem, childless not by choice, menopause & many other presenting issues.
It's not always easy to reach out and ask for support. We often feel that we can manage on our own or don't want to bother anyone with our thoughts and feelings. It can be hard to find a balance between work, relationships, family & other commitments to prioritise yourself. No matter what brings you to therapy the most important part is the relationship we will share. I aim to ensure you feel heard & give you a space to work through anything you want to bring to help you have a greater insight & self-awareness and I will walk alongside you on this journey. Counselling isn't a one size fits all package it's as individual as you are.

Bereavement Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
