Does life ever feel completely overwhelming, as if navigating it is an impossible task? Finding someone who truly listens can seem daunting, especially when it’s hard to hear your thoughts whilst disconnected from your own voice, amid the noise of daily life, past experiences, and the heavy weight of expectation—whether your own or those of others. Self-discovery can often feel like untangling knots, especially when the journey feels like it’s not straightforward or easy, but, having a safe and supportive space for this process is invaluable.

While Gestalt Therapy is the foundation of my work, my practice is also informed by IFS, attachment-based therapy, psychodynamic thinking, and sensorimotor approaches.
People who benefit most from my approach are often navigating anxiety, depression, the effects of trauma, neurodivergence, or the psychological impact of a mental health diagnosis. They may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in familiar patterns, and are seeking a shift — not a quick fix, but a more grounded understanding of themselves. They’re looking for a space where their full experience is welcomed and understood. In our work, I focus on building a collaborative, trusting relationship that supports deeper insight, emotional resilience, and a more meaningful connection to self and others.

I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist and I draw on a broad range of models in my therapeutic work including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, CBT, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment-based therapies and more holistic approaches that look at how to support the nervous system.
My main focus is always on creating a safe therapeutic relationship where we can think creatively together about the difficulties you might be facing. I particularly enjoy working with neurodivergent young people and adults, exploring together how they experience the world. I work predominantly from a trauma-informed perspective and a lot of my work with neurodivergent families focusses on the parent-child relationship.

Our earliest relationships have an effect on the relationship we have with ourselves, with those who are important to us, with society, and the wider world in which we live. If carers are unable to give the care that met our changing needs in childhood, if our parents were unable to attune to us, our emotional resilience can be insufficient. Now grown we can feel we list from one crisis to another, have relationships that cause unhappiness and feel life is really difficult and everything goes wrong. Our defence mechanisms, once vital for survival, are now additional problems that can make life almost too difficult to bear.

I can assist you in gaining insight & understanding into your history to help you make clearer decisions about your future. As we work together to understand the way you are, the easier it will be for you to make decisions to make your life, career and relationships happier, more balanced and more empowered. In therapy you will have a unique chance to be authentic without self-censorship or consideration of others; where the focus is solely on you. As there are so few chances to encounter this kind of interaction, this acts as a powerful catalyst for change and transformation.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
