Hello, My ideal client has tried everything but still feels stuck. Therapy, books, positivity—nothing works. The problem isn't in their head. They feel it in their body—heaviness, fatigue, anxiety. They experience anxiety from nowhere, repeating patterns, living someone else's life, and unexplained physical symptoms. Something was lost along the way. They want results, not sympathy. Real change, not endless talking. Freedom, not staying stuck. They need to release what's holding them, feel lighter and clearer, and finally live instead of survive. They're ready for deeper work that addresses the root—not just symptoms.

I’m trained in integrative counselling, which means I have lots of techniques to choose from when deciding what will help my clients the most; I draw from person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural therapies depending on the presenting issues and client's needs.
I specialise in neurodiversity and I have additional training in autism, ADHD, and neuroscience. I offer a variety of methods of counselling and coaching, including online and telephone sessions, face to face counselling in our lovely therapy room, and a walk and talk option for those who might not feel comfortable in a traditional counselling environment.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons: you may want support with a life event or transition, be experiencing anxiety or depression, be feeling dissatisfied in your relationships, or want to better understand yourself and what you want from life. I'm fascinated by the ways we search for meaning in our lives, and I know how amazing and transformative good relationships of all kinds can be, and how painful it can be when we struggle to find or keep them. I'm passionate about helping people learn to relate to themselves, others and the world in the fullest possible way.

This may include elements of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural (CBT), dialectical behavioural (DBT), and compassion focused (CFT) therapies.
Do you feel stuck in patterns of relating to yourself and others that feel familiar, yet are holding you back? My approach to therapy is grounded in an understanding that current difficulties are often influenced by past experiences, relationships, and patterns that may sit outside of our awareness. I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for meaningful change - I believe that change can happen when you feel genuinely heard and understood. My work is individually tailored, and I draw flexibly on a range of evidence-based approaches to facilitate meaning making and promote change.

Whatever you're carrying, I offer a steady, thoughtful space in Tynemouth or online where you can speak openly and finally feel heard. My focus is on helping you find your footing again. Whether you feel you've lost your sense of self or are struggling with the weight of anxiety in your connections, we work together to help you feel more secure and grounded.

The relationship between a couple is unique. I offer an initial assessment session to begin to understand your relationship dynamics and the context of the issues which you are experiencing. My role is to be impartial, to listen to you and to offer you effective therapy and practical tools which will enable you to release destructive, fixed perspectives and to make real progress. Therapy can be an emotional journey, but it can also be a positive one.

I am also specifically trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy and will tailor the approach to your needs.
As a Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist, I have worked mainly with individuals who have suffered some kind of childhood trauma and I also offer assessments for ADHD & ASD. As a result I have found that individuals with personality issues, CPTSD, mood disorders and neurodiversity feel that I am the best fit for them. The types of clients who are drawn to me tend to have difficulties with rejection, abandonment, being judged and not accepted. I provide the space to counteract that, to develop self-empathy and self-compassion and to simply accept and learn to love who we truly are.

I take an integrative approach which means I incorporate elements of different therapies such as EMDR, CBT, psychodynamic therapy on Person-Centred Base.
Are you struggling with life? Perhaps you are tired of feeling anxious, low or have experienced a difficult life event which you are struggling to cope with. Do you find yourself consumed by worries and unable to break out of a negative cycle? Would you like a safe non-judgmental confidential space to be heard, understood and find new ways of coping? If so, then counselling, CBT or EMDR may be able to help you find your way forward. I have experience of working with both adults and young people who experience difficulties ranging from anxiety, panic, OCD, worry, low-mood, grief, trauma to relationship difficulties.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
