Hello, I’m Bev. Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and when our thoughts are disorganised it can be challenging to see a clear way forward and to make positive and healthy choices. Although it is helpful talking to others, many people feel more comfortable and more able to be fully open, talking to a trained professional. I am an Integrative Person-centered Counsellor and EMDR Practitioner. I have experience in supporting and helping clients overcome mental health issues including; bereavement, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and trauma.

I work from the understanding that human experience includes distress, conflict, and harm, and that avoiding these realities is neither helpful nor therapeutic. In the therapy room, I offer a non-judgemental, reflective space where clients can explore their experiences honestly and at their own pace. My role is not to impose interpretations or provide simplistic reassurance, but to listen carefully, ask meaningful questions, and support clients in developing insight, emotional awareness, and psychological resilience.I see therapy as a collaborative process grounded in respect, autonomy, and ethical practice.

My ideal client often appears capable and put together but feels stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected beneath the surface. They may struggle with anxiety, relationship patterns, people pleasing, or self doubt, despite strong self awareness. Many are navigating transitions such as burnout, relationship change, or questions about identity and direction. They want more than coping strategies. They want clarity, emotional balance, healthier boundaries, and authentic relationships. Therapy offers a space to understand patterns, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with greater confidence, alignment, and choice.

Every day, overwhelm, burnout, and self-sabotage ruin the lives of men. One bad day or poor decision can threaten your health, relationships, and work - or destroy your reputation, peace, and sanity. To manoeuvre in the modern world, manage your own ego, and build and protect psychological fitness and long-term performance, facing the man in the mirror is no longer optional. My job is to make this as easy as possible, and help prevent you from ever becoming a statistic. Having delivered over 7000 consultations for a broad range of challenges, I offer a pragmatic and performance-focused approach for those willing to do the work.

Are you holding things together on the outside while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck or misunderstood underneath. I specialise with neurodivergent adults and men who find it hard to talk about what they’re feeling. You may experience ADHD, autistic traits, anxiety, burnout, panic, low mood, anger, self-doubt, or just feeling life's hard. Many of the men I work with are not short of feelings — they’ve just never had a safe or natural way to express them. Sometimes if feels easier to begin through things like music, football, or daily life before getting to what's really going on underneath.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by physical or mental health problems or weight? Does your body or mind feel out of your control? Perhaps you've been diagnosed with a new condition or can't get your head round an existing one? Are any of these issues impacting on your emotions or relationships with others? I can help. I value supporting people with finding their own path, standing out from the crowd, building connection and relationships. I am not a fixer and I don't have all the answers, although I know that I am OK to sit with people in chaos. I strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own way, on their own terms.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
