I offer in-person sessions and online therapy, providing flexible, supportive care wherever you are.
Hello, My ideal client has tried everything but still feels stuck. Therapy, books, positivity—nothing works. The problem isn't in their head. They feel it in their body—heaviness, fatigue, anxiety. They experience anxiety from nowhere, repeating patterns, living someone else's life, and unexplained physical symptoms. Something was lost along the way. They want results, not sympathy. Real change, not endless talking. Freedom, not staying stuck. They need to release what's holding them, feel lighter and clearer, and finally live instead of survive. They're ready for deeper work that addresses the root—not just symptoms.

I offer EMDR and psychotherapy in-person in Sunderland and outdoor therapy in a dedicated private woodland in Northumberland, within easy travel distance from Morpeth, Ponteland and Hexham.
I offer a calm, supportive space to make sense of what’s going on at a pace that feels manageable. Alongside psychotherapy, I offer EMDR to help process distressing experiences without needing to talk through everything in detail. Outdoor therapy can feel less pressured; working side by side, not sitting in a room and being able to incorporate movement.

I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist offering psychological therapy in a cosy log cabin, whilst walking through woodland, or sitting together on a hillside with far reaching views. I offer therapy in natural settings because many people find that being outdoors helps them feel calmer, think more clearly, and connect more openly. Research demonstrates that spending time in green spaces can support emotional regulation, restore attention, calm the nervous system, and promote a greater sense of connection. Therapy in nature can offer a welcome pause from the pace and pressures of modern life.

I offer in-person and online sessions from House Seven in Tynemouth, a calm, private space near the metro with free on-street parking.
Still saying "I'm fine" when you're really not? "Just keep going" got you this far, but something's shifted and it's costing you more than anyone realises. You may be wrestling with anxiety, low mood, bereavement, trauma or relationship difficulties — and unsure why the same patterns keep repeating, or why things feel harder than they used to. You don't need the right words to start. Most people arrive knowing only that something needs to change. That's enough. Whatever's weighing on you, you don't have to carry it alone — and you don't have to have it all figured out before we begin.

I offer face to face sessions in a comfy modern office space in Gateshead or remote sessions via video/telephone.
Hello, and thanks for taking a look at my profile. I know how difficult it can be to sift through profiles and take that first step towards reaching out, especially when feeling scared, stuck or overwhelmed. Having worked with people for nearly 15 years, I’m interested in how our experiences, including past or present trauma, influence the way we relate to ourselves, others, the world around us, and how we find meaning in our lives. I offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore these experiences and work towards meaningful change.

My payments are on a sliding scale, depending if you would prefer Face to Face, telephone or Teams appointments.
I believe counselling is a way to explore and express. Finding ways to move forward with more confidence in your own abilities to manage and cope with what life throws at you. A place to talk and express in a safe environment without worry of criticism, somewhere to be heard and listened to, seen as the individual you are and encouraged to grow.

You're still showing up, still functioning, still keeping things together. But something isn't right. Maybe your mind won't slow down, or it just won't start. My clients come from all walks of life, but many share that experience of quietly struggling while looking completely fine on the outside. Whether it's burnout, ADHD, anxiety, stress, or something you haven't quite named yet, you deserve support.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
