Hello, I’m Bev. Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and when our thoughts are disorganised it can be challenging to see a clear way forward and to make positive and healthy choices. Although it is helpful talking to others, many people feel more comfortable and more able to be fully open, talking to a trained professional. I am an Integrative Person-centered Counsellor and EMDR Practitioner. I have experience in supporting and helping clients overcome mental health issues including; bereavement, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and trauma.

Hello, my name is Emma and I’m a therapist and trainee Counselling Psychologist. And over to you. Do you feel stuck in patterns in your life that you are struggling to shift? Or would you like to explore certain life events with someone who is not family or a friend? We all have our ways of behaving and seeing the world that have developed over time, and perhaps been useful once, but no longer serve us. I believe that we repeat and relive what we have not processed. These repetitions show up in our relationships, work, choices, and symptoms, but it is very difficult to get out of these behaviours and thinking loops on your own.

I work with adults who feel stuck in recurring relationship patterns, struggle with anxiety, low self-worth, people-pleasing, fear of abandonment, or difficulty trusting themselves and others. Many of my clients want healthier, more fulfilling relationships but find themselves repeating the same cycles despite their best efforts. Together, we explore the underlying patterns and build greater confidence, emotional security, and healthier ways of relating.

My specialist area is working with neurodivergence (either self diagnosed or officially), in an affirmative way, so you can feel free to be yourself. You might relate to: Racing thoughts or executive dysfunction Sensory overwhelm or shutdown Cycles of burnout Struggling to communicate your needs Rejection sensitivity or intense self-criticism Masking so well that other people don’t see how much you’re struggling Grief, anger or confusion around a late ADHD or autism diagnosis

You’re holding it all together, but only just. Maybe you’ve had a panic attack in the toilet at work. Maybe you’ve asked ChatGPT to help untangle your brain. You feel everything so deeply. The tiniest thing tips you over. Everyone’s got an opinion about what you should do, but you don’t even know who you are anymore. Maybe you've been carrying things alone for a while and masking how hard it’s been just to get through the day. You might feel like you're "too much" and still feel "not good enough". You're not broken. You’ve been thinking about therapy. Now you’re here, wondering if anyone will really get it.

I consider myself to be an integrative therapist drawing from different modalities to provide a bespoke pathway to the clients needs as each journey is completely individual. I provide a trusted, supportive and safe space for the client (s) to heard and explored. When working with couples I acknowledge every relationship is unique, as are the individuals in the partnership. I work with issues such as ineffective communication, escalating arguments, infidelity, loss of intimacy, the impact of a loss of a child has on a relationship, coping with a separation or divorce and co dependency.

I'm Anna, and I live and work in the North East of England. I help people who want a place where they feel supported to talk about the complexities of being human. That might mean you are experiencing intrusive thoughts, feel overwhelmed, are going through difficult transitions, are stuck in patterns, are burnt out, have lost someone or something and don't know how to move forward. It all counts.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
