Hello, I am a qualified psychotherapist who has been working in private practice for over 20 years and I am accredited with UKCP. I offer both long and short term therapy to individuals and couples who are experiencing personal issues which can affect relationships and general outlook on life. Please feel free to browse my profile and make contact if you would like to know more about me and how I work.
I am particularly interested in working with women at different stages in their life from teens who may be managing their emotions by causing self injury to women struggling with anger and anxiety experienced during the menopause. A lot of the women I see in the counselling room can not always put their finger on exactly what is unsettling them and that is usually the starting point of out time together. I love to see all my clients both male and female finishing counselling with the tools needed to recognise and manage their own feelings, thought and behaviour.
I recognise that taking the first steps to counselling can be difficult. I offer a genuine, warm, compassionate space to enable clients to commence their individual personal journey. Any issues which clients have will be explored in complete confidentiality and in a non- judgemental way. Issues from the past and present may leave us feeling all kinds of emotions such as sadness, anger, loneliness. Maybe you don’t know why you feel this way? I will listen and offer you the space to talk at your pace, walking beside you, exploring these issues aiming to accomplish changes which may lead to a more positive sense of well-being.
Specialising in Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders I can help you to take back control. Do you feel you are struggling to cope with your day-to-day life? Are you experiencing sadness, low self-esteem, low confidence, panic attacks, social, general or health anxiety? Do the symptoms you are feeling prevent you from working, socialising, sleeping, doing daily tasks and enjoying your life? I work with people of all ages. If you are ready to make changes, I am here to help you. Whatever your end goal we will work together to get you there.
Do you have meltdowns and feel like you're losing control? Are you self harming or using behaviours that are not in your best interest? Do you have awful nightmares where you wake up in a sweat and you can't get back to sleep? Or maybe in the daytime you suddenly remember, or feel things that you can't explain? And they feel so upsetting you try anything not to have them? On the other hand, it might be 'not' remembering things that troubles you, it might be memory gaps, daydreaming, losing time or feeling unreal? Maybe the most painful thing for you is struggling with relationships, which leaves you feeling lonely and scared.
We provide a welcoming, discreet, judgement free, safe space for you to talk through your thoughts, feelings and emotions. We offer sessions for adults, couples, adolescents and play therapy for children. We are integrative therapists which means we can better tailor your sessions to meet your individual needs because everyone is different. We will go at your own pace and work with individuals on a wide range of issues.
Life can be hard, especially after the last couple of years. Seeing a therapist doesn't mean there's something 'wrong with you'; you may feel now is the right time to work through some of your emotions; or to work through some traumatic experience. You may want to challenge your negative thinking patterns, or need some clarity in some areas of your life. You may feel now is the right time to learn new techniques, which will enable you to cope better, or feel the time is right to focus on personal growth.
This may be the first time you have decided to seek counselling or psychotherapy, or working with me, may be part of an ongoing personal journey to enhance your life further. Unresolved issues can confuse, distress and disrupt your life, often returning time and time again, causing you both emotional and sometimes even physical difficulties, that can not only affect you, but also might impact on your relationships, work and family life. Some examples of how these issues might manifest, could include you experiencing; depression, anxiety, stress, angry thoughts, addictions, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders
Are you struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, sleeping problems, low self-esteem, or just not feeling yourself? Counselling can help you get through any of these issues. It can be difficult to face up to your problems but once you are ready to heal the end goal is amazing. You will be listened to in a comfortable space where you will feel calm and relaxed. You will be able to think and have time to reflect. You will not be alone through this journey; we will be in it together to reach your goals.
Many of us experience times when we are struggling with our emotions or mental health. However sometimes this can go on for too long and it can have a big impact upon our quality of life. We might notice repeating patterns or cycles that feel hard to make sense of or change.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Scunthorpe are psychologists, licensed counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualised treatment.
Services offered, education, and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Scunthorpe then may specialise in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counselling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.
Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.
How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Scunthorpe, or Child Psychologists in Scunthorpe.
Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Scunthorpe psychologists specialising in EMDR.
What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Scunthorpe specialise in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.
Can I afford counselling?
Yes. Most counsellors offer reasonable rates or will work on a sliding scale basis. Many accept health insurance. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the counsellor.
