Counselling is an opportunity to be heard, to share with a trained person some of the difficulties that you encounter and to be supported to make positive changes to your life. I work in a respectful, empathic, understanding and compassionate way, providing a confidential, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences. By reflecting on these experiences you can learn new ways of doing things and progress past what you feel is holding you back or causing you difficulty. I currently work from a comfortable and private space that is used solely for client sessions, online via video call or outdoors.

Counselling is about relationships with family, friends, colleagues and yourself. I create an environment where you are able to access and harness your own resources/strengths in a non-judgemental space to work towards your individual therapeutic goals. I will work alongside you and am keen to understand your personal values whilst working with difficulties such as stuck patterns and developing an understanding of what is maintaining them. I aim is to get to know you and your personal values so we can understand any issues and make sense of what is maintaining them.

We are told how important exercise is for our physical wellbeing, our mental health is no different. Therapy does change lives and for that reason, if you are unhappy, stressed and not sure what to do, you need to remember that life is short and you deserve to live the life you want. Put yourself first, and do what makes you happy! My approach is integrative, which means that I am trained in several different modalities, allowing me to work in a way that suits each unique client.

I am a Child, adolescent & adult psychotherapist. I work with all age groups. We are all expected to make normal life changes that can be difficult for example, a school transition, change of job, relationship changes etc.  These can be quite challenging to manage. Then we have the uncertainties that are happening all around us right now with the pandemic & global change. Life is full of many uncertainties & quite often this can cause us to feel as though we are out of control leading to anxiety & stress.  I can help to manage the anxiety so that you feel back in control again enabling a much happier & fulfilled life.

I know how overwhelming it can feel trying to find a therapist who is right for you. Its sometimes hard to get a feel for what kind of person a therapist really is beyond their qualifications and training... which is kind of important if you are going to be vulnerable with them! Let me show you a little of who I am so you can see if we are a good match. My name is Rose. Before I began facilitating healing for others, I spent years dedicated to my own healing. I experienced severe & complex trauma as a child and teenager that resulted in various forms of dis-ease in my adult life.

Are you struggling right now? Maybe with panic, fear, general anxiety? Maybe your teenager is having difficulties. Are you struggling with Domestic Abuse? Would you like to explore the root of your problems and be in a better place? If so, I may be the counsellor you are looking for. Sometimes in life we all struggle, and it is important to recognise this and seek some self-care. Life for a teenager can be particularly difficult but an area I have worked in for 35 years. Counselling can seem like a very daunting experience and leave you wondering what to expect, what counselling could do for you or whether this will help you.

Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence. Finding a teen therapist in Scarborough and addressing a disorder early on can help ensure the best possible outcome.
