You may feel disconnected from your voice — emotionally, creatively, or personally — and unsure how to express what’s happening inside, especially when words feel hard to find. You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or at a crossroads, navigating questions around identity, belonging, or direction. You’re looking for a space where you don’t have to perform or have everything figured out. A space where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply, heal, and move through what’s holding you back. Over time, this can help you reconnect with clarity, confidence, and your authentic voice.

I hear you, and I see you! I am a trauma informed counsellor and psychotherapist, hypnotherapist and mentor. I have been in therapy myself and I know first-hand the feeling of darkness, pain and trauma, but I also know what it's like to feel light again. Hello, I’m Iris. I’m an integrative counsellor and therapist working with adults who feel overwhelmed, emotionally stretched, burnt out, or worn down from holding things together. Many people I work with appear to cope on the outside while feeling anxious, unsettled, or stuck beneath the surface. Therapy can offer a place to slow down, feel supported, and begin to make sense of what you’re carrying.

My practice is founded on the belief that caring for each other is a shared responsibility. My approach centres on listening deeply and helping you clarify your needs, empowering you to attune to what lies at the heart of the challenges you face. I specialise in working with adults facing a 'transitional moment' in life. You may be a young adult stepping into uncertainty, or your circumstances have changed due to divorce, illness or bereavement and you are struggling to find your way forward. Whilst these moments in life are stressful, they also offer an opportunity for growth and deep authentic change when navigated consciously.

Women's Issues Counsellors
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
