We all struggle to make sense of experiences at times, for example, when our life is in transition as we are leaving home or taking on new caring responsibilities. As a counsellor I can offer the opportunity to talk in confidence. I have worked in mental health for over 20 years and have trained as a social worker as well as a counsellor. Social networks and our sense of connection, can contribute to our emotional resilience and ability to face life's challenges. I can help you find a broader perspective and your own way forward.

Are you stuck, bewildered, unable to work out what is happening? Do you find that confiding with friends and family isn't necessarily that helpful? It may be time to explore with someone with a different approach what can change. Do you want to move out of a current pattern of thinking or behaving? I work with a solution focus in some sessions when the goal is to move an obstacle that is often our thinking and responding. I can offer an empathic and safe environment to work through life changes and transitions such as loss and grief, divorce or betrayal. I work especially well with shame based thoughts and behaviours.

Hi there, I'm Richard, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I blend different therapeutic approaches to suit your needs, combining techniques from person-centred, attachment-based, and cognitive-behavioural therapy with trauma-informed soothing and mindfulness to help heal trauma. Many of us experience anxiety, difficult relationships, self-doubt, or feeling overwhelmed without fully understanding why. It's a completely natural part of being human. Perhaps you notice patterns but wonder where they began. Understanding can help us heal emotional pain, gain confidence and reconnect to our life in a healthy, meaningful way

My name is Kelly, thank you for visiting my website. I am trained in a variety of different therapies which help me collaborate with clients to find the right approaches and techniques that work for you, no two people are the same, and one size does not fit all. This is a two-way process to fine tune and see what helps you best. A large part of this is talking together, I also work somatically (checking in with the breath, bodily symptoms of emotional distress) and can offer creative approaches if this is of interest. I offer a free 25 minute phone or video call conversation to see if we would be a good fit to work together.

Has a recent or past negative experience left you feeling lost or stuck? Maybe you’ve tried to just get on with life but inside you still feel broken, replaying events in your mind and asking yourself why or how this happened. Perhaps you know what happened to you was traumatic or maybe you’ve told yourself it “wasn’t that bad”. Some days you seem to feel all the emotions all at once, and other days you feel nothing at all. Other people simply don’t understand, which may leave you feeling alone and like you don’t matter. You are not alone and you do matter. You deserve freedom and peace from your past experiences.

My therapeutic system uses exploration through talking and listening, and integration through a unique method of counselling, somatic work, emotional processing and visualisation.
Hi, I’m Matt. I know how hard it can be to take that first step toward feeling better. But if your struggling for whatever reason, I think I can help. For many years I’ve been studying how thoughts and emotions work together to shape our experience, and sometimes cause us great suffering. This led me to develop a system of therapy combining counselling, visualisation and meditation techniques, to help to process painful emotions and bypass negative thought patterns. Often, bringing a new found sense of peace, clarity and joy.

I have a PhD in Social Psychology and training in Somatic Psychotherapy.
Human minds don't fit neatly into single templates and effective therapy shouldn't either. We start with your life and your mind in mind and design a way of working that suits you, what's going on for you and the outcomes you need. I specialise in anxiety and neurodiversity, working with a clinical lens - but not a narrow one. I have learnt from leading edge research and developed neuro affirming systems and strategies that are effective.

Counselling can benefit us all at some point in our lives.  Sometimes it feels as though life or our relationships are no longer working and the pressures of modern life can get too much.  Sometimes we feel too lonely or scared to face life alone.  We may feel overwhelmed and out of control, meaning we change our behaviours to try and cope.  That is why therapy can be beneficial to explore a change of direction, lifestyle or thoughts patterns, relaxation or self-care, or simply to just be with another whilst you take time to talk things through.

I have trained for years in somatic therapy and CBT.
What happened to us, doesn't have to define us. The narrative of our issues can be transformed in something different. A healing story that can give you empowerment and freedom. We can feel angry, anxious, frozen, stuck but we may not always know why. You may look for happiness or you feel you are lost. Or perhaps, you still don't know what's missing. Regardless, I understand it's important for you to know how to cope and what really matters to you. Finding and challenging your personal story, may give you the answers you are looking for. I can help with that!

I tend to work by using a mindful and heavily ' somatic' approach, integrating counselling, and psychotherapy along the way.
20+ years experience, and extensive further specialist trainings. I help people when more than talk therapy is needed: Chronic Anxiety, Childhood Abuse, Dissociation inc DID, Neglect, Sadness, Neurodiversity, Difficult Relationships, Chronic Pains, Fear, Numbness, Trauma & CPTSD... I take an organic approach, and like to use gentle yet powerful, therapies that I've seen create space and flow to heal. You might be unsure about what you want or need, most people are at the start, that's ok with me, just book in, and we'll work it out as we go. Visit my website for more in-depth information.

Hi I’m Paula I qualified with a Masters in Counselling Psychotherapy in 2017. Since then, I’ve also trained in Couples Counselling. My basis of therapy is Person Centred, which means that I take cues from you to guide the process, so that there is no hurry to talk about things until you feel ready. My all-round approach is integrative as I incorporate connection with your mind, body and spirit into our Talking Therapy sessions. Perhaps your first query is; “Do I need Counselling?”. It’s a very common thought. Whether you are feeling confused, unsure, stuck, overflowing with emotions or numb, you are now in the right place.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
