I have experience with a variety of issues and additional training on issues of racism, grief and loss related themes such as miscarriages, divorce, job, etc.
As a black therapist, my diverse background enhances my understanding of the unique struggles faced by different groups. I utilise an Integrative approach, but it's my personal experiences and cultural awareness that influence how I work. I aim to create a welcoming space where clients feel recognised and valued for their differences. I offer guidance and support as they navigate through challenging times in their lives, creating a safe and nurturing environment for them to explore their issues with my presence and companionship every step of the way, until they feel confident and empowered to stand on their own.

I offer a respectful, warm and empathetic ear, together with a safe, neutral space to help you to talk, and work through any issues you may have. I am not here to tell you what to do nor give advice; I am here to help you explore and discover your feelings I offer a free 10-15 minute consultation on the phone as a way to introduce myself and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about me and the counselling process. Sessions will differ depending on the mode of therapy we decide to use. We may work more in the here and now or, we may look at where issues have stemmed from in the past: I will be led by you.

I believe therapy can support us through life's challenges. As a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist in training I bring compassion and professionalism to my work. I have successfully supported clients with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-harm, eating disorders and body image issues, addiction, loss and relationship difficulties. There is a lot of mystery surrounding therapy. I strive to be clear and open with my clients so, whilst the work may sometimes be challenging, it is always collaborative and they feel safe and respected as they come to better understand their deepest needs.

I am experienced in supporting people with bereavement, depression, anxiety, issues around gender and sexuality, separation, co-parenting and divorce, domestic and childhood abuse.
Beginning therapy is a brave and sometimes difficult decision. My approach is to build a trusting relationship where we can work in collaboration with one another. If you're struggling, the most important thing I hope you to feel in my practice is safe, safe to explore your feelings and experiences so that together we can help establish a way forward. Please note that occasional responses to enquiries can land in your email's "junk" or "spam" folder. If you are waiting for a reply, please check there. I aim to respond to all enquiries within three working days.

I have worked with clients seeking support in managing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties and issues related to work.
At times we may feel overwhelmed and unable to cope with the demands of life. Relationships with family, friends or work colleagues may be strained leaving us unhappy, anxious or depressed. When it feels as though life is getting on top of us, having a safe place to talk with a qualified counsellor can help move our lives forward. Finding a counsellor who is a good fit for you is crucial yet taking those first steps, can be daunting. To aid that process, I offer a free 30 minute telephone or Zoom call so you can better gauge whether you feel comfortable and happy for us to work together.

Welcome. I'm a warm, compassionate and experienced CBT psychotherapist (BABCP accredited) and a qualified EMDR therapist. Within my practice I incorporate the concepts from the 'third wave' of CBT such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness. These techniques can enhance the process of learning new ways of interacting with thoughts and emotions, thereby enabling me to provide the best outcome for my clients. Alongside my private practice I work for the NHS and the Ministry of Defence, providing high intensity treatment to adolescents and adults.

Bereavement Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
