I have worked with anxiety , depression, trauma, self-harm, addiction, abuse (including domestic violence), stress, grief and loss.
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor. Person-centred means the therapeutic process is centred around you. I offer a private space, without fear of judgement or expectations - which are perfect conditions to work together to get what you want from counselling. My sessions are purposely laid back, where you and I are both free to be ourselves in this space. I offer a discount to counselling/psychotherapy students who need sessions for their studies.

One of the greatest tricks the mind can play during times of suffering from anxiety and worthlessness, is its ability to convince you that you are completely alone.
Extreme unease, feelings of doom, painful mental images, grotesque intrusive thoughts, distressing ideas, an intense need to engage in habits/compulsions, and debilitating panic - these are just a few of the terrible shades in which anxiety manifests in human beings. It has a unique individual character in each person and it is immensely important to address that individuality by understanding the nuances of a person's experience. It is my mission to create the most individualised and tailored approach to treating each client's suffering from anxiety ; that is the only truly effective way I know of creating lasting change.

With regards to specific issues, I specialise in anxiety related issues such as GAD, OCD and panic .
Choosing a therapist can be a tricky task, there are just so many! As a guide, a big factor for therapeutic success is 'connection' - also known as 'the therapeutic alliance'. There is little you can see from a profile but perhaps take a moment to pause and check inwardly whether there is potential for a good therapeutic relationship. This practice is known as 'focusing'. I frequently use this method to help my clients access edge of awareness experiences that often were part of their life for many years. If you'd like to explore parts of yourself that you find burdening or at least unhelpful my approach may be of help.

We have successfully worked with people with eating disorders, anxiety , depression, work stress, trauma and relationship difficulties.
It is very human to have psychological difficulties at various points in our lives. Difficult things can happen to us leaving us feeling scared and/ or low/ depressed. Society can also make us feel pressurised to look a certain way and we can feel pretty worthless if don't believe that we conform to these societal expectations. All of these can be both frightening and overwhelming, which makes it so important to have a calm, compassionate and skilful therapist to guide you towards recovery.

As the world shifts around us, and under us, it’s very common to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or to suffer from depression. Hi, I'm Steve and I would love to help. I have a wide experience of different groups, clients, and presenting issues, and I would love to offer a warm and non-judgemental presence to help you find clarity in your life. I work in Prestwich, Salford and Manchester in person, and countrywide online. I have particular experience with working with stress, bereavement, anxiety , and depression. I recognise therapy can be expensive, so offer reduced rates for those on lower incomes.

Hi, I’m Sharon, thankyou for taking the time to browse my profile. I am highly passionate about working with people to create positive change and feel very privileged to do so. I have experience of working with individuals with a wide range of difficulties such as depression, anxiety , abuse, loss, low self-esteem and family/relationship difficulties. It is normal that everyone will have times when they feel anxious, overwhelmed or low. However if those feelings start to interfere in everyday life, or if you’re facing pressure professionally or in your relationships, then it could be a good time to seek the help of a counsellor.

Anxiety , depression, bereavement, relationships, work goals, issues and ways forward - these are just some of the stressors I have helped clients to tackle.
I am a qualified psychotherapist, life coach, trainer and supervisor, with over 20 years experience in private practice. I work with adults who may be encountering life's stressors to a greater-than-usual degree or may be struggling to find their way forward in a diverse range of circumstances. These may be from personal or professional sources but usually involve our own, perhaps not very helpful, habitual ways of dealing with such difficulties - we all can revert to old habits in times of trouble. I am available to do both short- and long-term work according to need.

I assist clients with low mood, anxiety , depression, low self confidence & self esteem, personal issues, loneliness, sadness, & stress.
I am a counsellor and registered general nurse specialising in occupational health, and my priorities have been about the physical and psychological care of my patients and clients. I use the biopsychosocial model to support clients' biological, psychological and social experiences and issues. I listen to why the client feels they need therapy, and we discuss the most appropriate way forward which may include, for example, CBT or solution-focussed therapy. I am welcoming and trustworthy and my approach to clients is irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, race or religious beliefs.

Project Trauma was founded to work with anyone who feels they need specialist support for psychological difficulties including anxiety , low mood, grief, work, relationship, or health problems.
Hi, my name is Ben and I'm the lead Clinical Psychologist for Project Trauma. I set up Project Trauma to provide the kind of personalised, compassionate psychological support that people need following events in their life which they have struggled to cope with. Psychological distress can affect anyone and everyone will have a different reaction to traumatic events in their life. We all have different tolerance and ways of coping, but at some stage in our life we will all need help from somewhere. Recently I have been working extensively with individuals suffering very understandable health anxiety related to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

I work with people with a broad spectrum of presenting issues, from depression and anxiety to domestic abuse, bereavement, addiction and sexuality.
Although I regularly work with clients of all ages and genders, the majority of my clients tend to be young men, who have unresolved feelings or experiences which are impacting on their daily lives. I work as an integrative counsellor, from a person-centred perspective. This means that you can bring whatever you wish to the session, while we work at your pace and depth. I employ theory and techniques from CBT, psychodynamic and other therapeutic philosophies which I feel may be useful. Where we start is not the important thing as ultimately, you will naturally discover the things that matter the most to you.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
