I work with person centred, nervous system and somatic therapeutic techniques.
I am an integrative psychotherapist. I hold a degree in psychology and a person-centred counselling diploma, along with specialised training in polyvagal theory (nervous system regulation).
Emotional wounds can have a powerful impact on our minds and physical bodies. Emotions not only impact the way we think and perceive things but can also manifest physically through symptoms such as anxiety, fatigue, heart palpitations, headaches etc. Sometimes we need support to overcome, move forward and heal from these difficult parts of journey. By addressing and becoming aware of our issues I can focus on creating conditions of growth

Maybe you’ve tried everything to feel “better.” You’ve kept busy, pushed through, tried not to overthink. But despite your efforts, something still lingers—a heaviness, a confusion, or a quiet feeling that things don’t quite make sense.
You don’t have to arrive with answers or even clarity. You just need to bring yourself—as you are. I work with adults who often feel overwhelmed by internal noise—whether that’s anxiety, unresolved grief, identity confusion, low self-worth, or the weight of past experiences.

With my brother diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia nearly 30 years ago, I have personal experience of the family sacrifices and struggles related to the pain and stigma of mental illness. Having since, committing my life to the improvement of people’s emotional fitness and mental resilience, with support from organisations such as SANE and MIND, my own journey has allowed me to discover the true benefits of therapy first-hand. Personal therapy is proving invaluable for people to manage certain difficult or crisis situations in their lives and so transform their problems into major opportunities for personal growth.

Sometimes life throws us challenges both through past and present experiences, which knock us off our feet and we become engulfed in uncertainty, worry and fear. It could be that we start to doubt ourselves and feel that we are not good enough or we are unable to cope, leading to anxiety and depression. Whatever you are going through, it deserves care, attention and compassion. You may be struggling to make meaning of what is going on around as you navigate life changes or have experienced traumatic events that you need some relief from. Whatever you are going through, I hope to help.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or under pressure to have life “figured out,” even if you’re managing well on the outside. You might be experiencing anxiety, low mood, self-doubt, relationship difficulties, or a sense of disconnection from yourself or others. Often, there’s a desire to understand what’s going on emotionally, feel more grounded, and find a way forward that doesn’t involve pushing yourself or having all the answers straight away.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
