I specialise in working with individuals with PTSD/cPTSD, ADHD, Autism and those who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual abuse, but I am happy to work with anything a client would like to bring to sessions.
There are only two things that you need to bring with you when you visit The Sanctuary: yourself and your truth. Show up with your whole self and let me take care of the rest. Accessing counselling for the first time, or returning to counselling after a break, can be a huge step. You may be looking for counselling because there’s something specific that you know that you’d like to work on, or because there’s something going on for you but you’re not quite sure what it is. Whatever the reason is that you’ve found yourself here, I am here to work with you without judgement so you can become the version of yourself that you want to be.

Maybe you’ve tried everything to feel “better.” You’ve kept busy, pushed through, tried not to overthink. But despite your efforts, something still lingers—a heaviness, a confusion, or a quiet feeling that things don’t quite make sense. You don’t have to arrive with answers or even clarity. You just need to bring yourself—as you are. I work with adults who often feel overwhelmed by internal noise—whether that’s anxiety, unresolved grief, identity confusion, low self-worth, or the weight of past experiences.

I have a particular passion for supporting children and young people with ASC and/or ADHD who are experiencing mental health challenges, empowering them to gain greater self-awareness and self-acceptance.
Supporting children and young people to blossom and thrive. Life can be tough, especially for children and young people who may be navigating new experiences or who are trying to understand who they are and establish their own identity. I am a child and young person’s therapist and can support young people in processing and making sense of difficult experiences, such as parent separation, challenges with peer relationships, grief or trauma. I work with young people to enable them to understand their emotions and how to regulate these.

You’re outwardly functioning, maybe even thriving — but inside, something doesn’t feel right. You might find yourself overthinking after interactions, struggling to make decisions, or carrying a quiet sense that you’re somehow not quite enough. Or maybe you just feel numb, stuck, or like you're always performing. I work with people who’ve spent years saying “I’m fine” but quietly feel disconnected from themselves, from others, or from the life they want to live. Therapy can be a space to stop hiding and explore who you are, what you value, and how you want to live.

I understand neurodiversity, because I have ADHD.
Recently, I've been working with a lot of clients who have substance misuse issues. These can greatly affect a persons confidence and I feel I am good at helping clients address their issues and go on to live the life they deserve. I'm also experienced at working with clients suffering bereavement issues. Sometimes its hard to make sense of someone's loss. Let me help you explore that grief and ways in which you can look at moving on from your loss. I offer a safe warm space for our sessions. I'm happy to work at the clients pace and my aim is to help you develop as a person.

Why do we feel like we do? Maybe anxious? Maybe depressed? Maybe self-critical? Maybe not able to interact with others as we'd like and feeling like our relationships could be better? Maybe just feeling like we could be living a happier more fulfilled and engaged life? The patterns of how we feel now have been laid down in our past. Our feelings and behaviours are all there for a reason - usually in ways that somehow protected earlier versions of ourselves. In therapy we can safely and kindly explore how you are feeling now, where your feelings have come from and how we can approach life differently.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
