Through counselling, a person will learn about themselves in a way they would never intend or maybe expect. As a counsellor I will be alongside you on your therapeutic journey and create a safe space that is respectful and non-biased to allow you to discover yourself and work through any issues that may be troubling you.

Deciding to come to counselling takes courage and I completely understand that this may be a big step for you, difficult times, bereavement , abuse, trauma, and abandonment can lead to depression, anger out-bursts, and burn-out, self-harm and other issues.
Hi, my name is Nicholas. I am a fully qualified counsellor and counselling supervisor, working in private practice. I offer counselling supervision for both student and qualified counsellors, and one 2 one counselling. As an Integrative counsellor, I draw on a variety of approaches to make best use of the time and the space for you. I believe working with the person in the room is the key rather than working directly with the presenting issue. I tend not to work on specialisms but do have extensive experience of working with adults and young people with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss .

I am experienced on working with people who suffered a traumatic (shock) incident, loss and relationship.
Hello! My name is Carmen and I am working as a private practitioner. I worked before in schools, drug and alcohol rehab and occupational health (EAP and assessments). I'll work with you in a way that will enable you to discover yourself, maybe the difficulty which probably causes you distress, increase your motivation and hopefully change your life in better. We can talk about what it is happening now but also we can address aspects from your past which are just on 'pause' at the minute but they 'creep' out whenever they want. Usually my sessions are based on your needs, purpose and action.

Choosing to come for counselling is a big step and understandably you may feel anxious about how this will work for you. In our first session we will begin to get to know each other and I will explain how we will look together at the issues that are important to you. The person centred counselling that I offer puts you right at the heart of the process. I am able to provide you with a safe and supportive environment, where you will feel able to express your feelings without fear of being judged ...everything you say will be carefully listened to and treated in confidence ... if it matters to you then you are free to say it.

If you are struggling with relationships, loss , stress, or feeling lost and overwhelmed, you might feel like you’re stuck, don’t know where to turn or how to move forward. Sometimes we don’t know what to say, how to say it or even fully understand what we are feeling; it’s often not just one thing that we are feeling but a complex mix of different emotions. Our sessions together will give you the opportunity to be heard, to explore your emotions and unpick the difficulties you are having.

We all dream of the way we want our life to be. Then life happens and sometimes it can feel like we are stuck in a pattern of living that we do not want to be in. Or we live through painful experiences that days, months, or years later continue to influence how we feel, think and act. Or maybe our family life and relationships feel out of balance, we may feel out of control, overwhelmed or disconnected from our loved ones. I am here to listen to your story, your difficulties and your dreams of how you wish your life, relationships, work, and family to be. Therapy can help you feel unstuck, so you can enjoy being who you are.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
