You’re holding it all together, but only just. Maybe you’ve had a panic attack in the toilet at work. Maybe you’ve asked ChatGPT to help untangle your brain.
You feel everything so deeply. The tiniest thing tips you over. Everyone’s got an opinion about what you should do, but you don’t even know who you are anymore. Maybe you've been carrying things alone for a while and masking how hard it’s been just to get through the day. You might feel like you're "too much" and still feel "not good enough". You're not broken. You’ve been thinking about therapy. Now you’re here, wondering if anyone will really get it.

I aim to establish a safe, non-judgemental space with clients where difficult issues and problems can be explored, free from the demands of the outside world. I have a psychodynamic approach which means I help clients work through the underlying causes at the root of problems to enable them to gain more self-awareness and a different perspective on their life. Also, with a background as a Samaritan volunteer for many years, I have offered emotional support to people from many walks of life suffering from distress caused by a wide range of difficult issues.

I offer a safe, unjudgemental and confidential space for you to work through what is troubling you and will support you as you find new ways forward.

I regularly work with people experiencing relationship issues, anxiety, depression, low mood, bereavement, unresolved issues from childhood, loss of confidence and self-esteem.
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. I believe that the most important part of therapy is that we build a strong and therapeutic relationship together so that you can feel safe to explore your feelings and concerns. We all have times in our life when we need support and it is not always possible to sort things out with the help of family and friends. I would be there to listen and not judge, in a confidential and caring environment. Counselling can feel daunting but can help to empower you to explore and reflect on ways of making changes and moving forward with your life.

Life is an adventure. Only through exploring a new path, the strength you will feel tomorrow will move you forward for that change. Reaching out can be overwhelming, daunting draining & can lead to a downward spiral, of being in a dark place, if you do not have the support, which pushes you to your comfort zone. This can sometimes be more harmful than helpful to your journey of change, if you cannot trust, feel uncomfortable to open up, or have no one that really listens to your cries, as you feel you are seen, but not heard, undervalued or not acknowledged. Let alone checked in, if you are okay. Well guess what? YOU are not alone.

I understand how struggles can be complex and interconnected, sometimes linked with early loss, autism, ADHD, or other life experiences, and together we can gently explore what may be going on beneath the surface.
When life feels harder than it looks
Putting on a front just to keep going can be deeply exhausting. Life can take its toll, and the effort of managing strong emotions while navigating day-to-day life can leave you feeling lost, emotionally drained, or disconnected from others - and even from yourself.
Anxiety, intense emotions, or ongoing stress can make it harder to feel close in relationships, affecting your confidence and sometimes leaving you feeling misunderstood. You may also notice that things which once brought you joy no longer feel the same, and everyday life can begin to feel more difficult to manage. It’s not easy.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
