I can help you work through areas in your life where you feel “stuck” and where you experience problems, like anxiety and depression, addiction, phobias, Post Traumatic Stress, feelings of low self-worth and low self-esteem, or problems in your relationship.
We all experience difficult times in our lives. I believe that the way we manage those hard times is dependent on our previous experiences, and on the beliefs, thoughts and feelings we hold on to as a result of this. This can inhibit us from feeling happy and fulfilled, and from being our true authentic selves.

You might be someone who thinks and feels deeply—and often finds the world overwhelming or like it wasn’t built with you in mind. You may have spent years masking, pushing through, or wondering why life seems harder than it should. Maybe you've been told you're too sensitive—or you’ve just never quite felt like you fit in. You carry a lot, even if no one sees it. What you want might be simple: to stop holding it all in. To speak freely, feel understood, and not have to pretend. A place where your pain is taken seriously—and where you don’t have to go through it alone.

Jungian analysis can help with depression, anxiety, stress, relationships, ‘stuckness’, and can alleviate symptoms of neurotic conditions.
A crisis is often a call to personal growth and development, to find a new path through life. The drive of the unconscious part of our nature is towards wholeness. In analysis we listen to the compensatory, complementary and sometimes prospective communication from the unconscious....hearing the voices of the soul balancing the relationship of conscious and unconscious. Individuation is the process of coming into psychic balance. In analysis you can learn to listen and understand your inner voice, gain a deeper sense of self, meaning and purpose in life, to become the person you are meant to be.

Sometimes it is difficult to find the words to describe your emotions or what you are experiencing. I hold online sessions where you are invited to use your imagination and creativity to gain insight and explore current challenges; exploring whatever you are struggling with or what you feel is holding you back or challenging your well-being. Through a combination of talking and expression, clients of all ages are empowered to tap into their inner strengths, and to use those strengths to create healthy connections with themselves and others.

Whilst we all know something of suffering anxiety, depression, bereavement, or other issues, your particular experience is entirely your own.
Aside from private practice, I have offered therapy for charities and as part of a residential mental health care team, to individuals of all ages and of many diverse cultures and backgrounds. I frequently help with anxiety, depression, trauma and substance misuse, and have particular interest in how we can cope with unexpected life changes.

Thank you very much for visiting my page. I am a Person Centred counsellor based in Seaford and I rent a room in the town centre. I aim to offer a safe place which is free of judgement and a positive atmosphere where we can explore whatever you may wish to bring to each session. In return I’ll also offer honesty and transparency to help build our relationship. I endeavour to work with you as an individual and not just on an individual problem. A personal favourite analogy of mine is “I will attempt to put your shoes on and walk with you but I won’t do up the laces”.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
