Bereavement Counselling in Royal Leamington Spa
My experience includes working in the charity sector with a diverse client base, supporting individuals with trauma, bereavement or issues relating to neurodiversity.
Your therapist is an important part of your journey, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable to express yourself so that we can work together on what feels important. Through therapy, we can explore parts of yourself that you might feel unable to share with others, something you feel isolated with right now. Being integrative means I am trained in more than one approach to counselling, allowing me to be flexible with works for you. Perhaps you have experienced trauma or you are facing difficulties in relationships, I understand how overwhelming this can feel. I offer face to face and online sessions.

Client's will be able to understand the historical and systemic influences to their problems and to find ways to create change both for themselves and others that they associate with. Many of my client's also have unresolved trauma that influences their day to day interactions, relationships, psychological state and/or physical health. They would hope to be able to make sense of both their mood and beliefs but to also be able to find ways to reprocess or clear any related trauma, make sense of associated anxiety, stress, behaviours and negative beliefs, to find ways to manage, think and behave differently and find new strengths.

After 25 years helping people change effectively, I now teach what I call The How Of Change. I help people identify their goals & then work closely with them to help them achieve their goals. This may involve teaching them how to communicate effectively with others or it can mean helping them to understand themselves and what they want from life.

Good mental health is not simply the absence of psychological problems. It is about thinking, acting and feeling in ways that enable you to live joyfully, overcome challenges and flourish. Choices when selecting a professional can be overwhelming. Looking at the lists of therapists and reading about different therapies that you cannot really understand might be frustrating. Whether you are feeling stressed or depressed, you are facing a crisis point in your life or trying to find meaning, or if you simply cannot go on as you have been, I can help you to look at things differently and find your own new way of being.

Therapy can be a space where you feel truly heard, believed, and supported.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
