In psychotherapy there is an opportunity to get to know yourself in depth and discover new ways of living your life. Often we have repetitive patterns and ways of thinking that can for instance cause suffering, frustration, anxiety and sadness in our life. Despite our best efforts to decide to behave and relate differently, we drift back to our old ways of being and behaving. In psychotherapy we will work at getting to know your unconscious inner life. A lot of feelings and thoughts we have are not conscious and psychotherapy gives you the opportunity to reflect and try out new ways when you feel change is needed.

I became a therapist because I am passionate about people and improving as well as enhancing mental wellbeing. I understand that life can be a challenge and at times it may be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I want to assure you that you do not have to go through life’s struggles by yourself. I am here for you and I am here with you. With your permission, I would like to come besides you and help you explore and discover events, thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour and together support you to make changes.

You might be someone who’s thoughtful and self-aware, yet still feel stuck, lost, or disconnected. On the surface, things may look fine, but something doesn’t sit right. You may be navigating a transition, questioning who you are, or wanting more depth and meaning in your life. You’ve likely tried to make sense of things on your own. Here, we slow down, explore what’s going on beneath the surface, and begin to find a way forward that feels more true to you.

I understand how daunting it can be to begin therapy. Whatever you’re struggling with, be it depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship or attachment issues, we can look at the jigsaw pieces of your life together, to help you gain clarity. This may involve exploring the past to identify patterns in emotions and behaviours which shine a light on current issues. You may be grappling with life’s meaning after bereavement or a relationship breakdown. Any kind of loss can have a huge impact on our mental wellbeing. I work with you to help you make sense of things & find meaning and purpose in order to move forward and feel less lost.

Hi, I’m Lynda, a counsellor based in Rochester. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or carrying a grief that’s hard to explain. Maybe something has changed in your life, or perhaps it’s been building for a while. I offer a calm, steady space where you don’t have to hold it all alone. We’ll take things at your pace. Sometimes we may sit with what’s heavy; other times, we might begin to gently untangle it. Together, we’ll explore ways to cope and feel more grounded in who you are.

My background in working for organisations across London & Kent gave me a particular understanding of the emotional challenges that many of us face including, depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, grief, bereavement, relationship & family issues. I believe that evidence based psychological therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) along with an integrative counselling approach allows flexibility in dealing with each individual’s needs. This, combined with a safe & non-judgemental therapeutic relationship is key for the process of change & recovery.

You’re someone who feels overwhelmed by stress, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion—maybe you’re a highly sensitive person (HSP) or struggling with anxiety, burnout, or past trauma. You want to break free from old patterns, feel more grounded, and build healthier relationships, but you’re tired of just “coping.” You crave a safe space to explore your emotions, understand your triggers, and cultivate self-compassion. Online therapy appeals to you because it’s flexible, private, and removes the stress of commuting. You’re ready for deep, meaningful change, not just quick fixes.

Hi, I’m Jayne. You might be navigating the loss of a relationship or someone close to you, feeling stuck in a situation that no longer fits, or carrying a weight that’s hard to name. Life can look fine on the outside, but inside feel unsettled or quietly overwhelming. I support people who may appear to be coping on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath — including those who have felt misunderstood or under pressure to manage alone. These feelings might follow loss, relationship endings, or work-related stress, or a long-standing sense that something isn’t quite right.

Women's Issues Counsellors
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
